Any photos to show this? I am in SoCal too and have been looking for a replacement to no avail. I only experienced the rattle for a mere 2 seconds on two occasions and my camera appears fine. Update is working flawlessly on my end. However, my OCD has me checking store stock in this 14 day window to get a replacement possibly.
Here you go. Photo and a screenshot of it recognizing the text and also trying to focus manually. I was trying 4-10 inches away, had to get like two feet away for it to come into focus. Then I pointed the phone further out in the room and it refocused but it won’t focus on closer items it seems. Hopefully yours works better than mine. Luke Miani mentioned this permanent damage in his video and it was almost hard for me to believe until now.

You have macro mode off. The flower should be yellow

I wasn’t trying to use macro mode. Sometimes it comes on before you get close enough to make use of it, and presents a worse image than the regular camera does.
Images will always be blurry close up unless you use macro mode tho. Unless you cropped that photo. the focal length of the iPhone 14 is diff. Film a video. Does it rattle or shake. And can you zoom in and it’s good?

I believe the focal point is now around 7 to 8 inches on the 14 Pro Max, rather than 6” on the 13 model. So with macro mode off and being that close up, it’s going to produce an image like that.

So what happened to being able to download iOS updates in the background??

Looks like it still takes 20 mins to download a small update and the phone has to restart.

The 14 pro max has a different minimum focus distance than previous phone (12PM),

iPhone 14 Pro Max - 200 mm (7.8 in)
iPhone 13 Pro Max - 150 mm (5.9 in)
iPhone 12 Pro Max - 115 mm (4.5 in)

Battery life on my 13 pro max has actually improved with ios16 , charged 100% on Monday at 2pm , down to 29% by Friday 2pm , wow:cool::apple:🤩

If your iPhone use only 71% of battery in 4 days, you could basically live with a Motorola flip phone from 1995, as you're probably barely touching it at all 😂

Just checked again, my M1 iPad Pro does NOT get a 16 update, it says I am up to date with 15.7.
Ah, so all the press releases flat out lied (not to mention various "news" articles posted here). Nice.

Apple today confirmed on its website that iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura will launch in October.
...
macOS Ventura‌ and ‌iPadOS 16‌ will likely launch after an October event focused on the iPad and Mac.
No idea where you are living, over here it's still September.

My camera is still having issues in third party apps after this update. I actually first noticed it in eBay last week, but it happens in Snapchat, Poshmark, etc. It's blurry pretty much exclusively with closer photos, maybe 6 inches from a subject, while the stock camera app handles this fine. I never had any "shaking" or clicking, just general blurriness. Really struggling to decide what to do. My model is backordered for a few weeks still, which isn't a big deal since I still have my old one, I'm just not super confident that a replacement may not have the same issue right now. And that sucks the most.

Hey Siri Camera, focus on the wine glass on the table.

’Wine glass in focus’

Hey Siri, now focus on my wife.

’Your wife in focus’

No! No! That’s her boyfriend!

‘Would you like me to do facial recognition and tell you his name?’

Two fixes for their hardware they are quickly becoming a hot mess, Apple demands higher end money for this? Apple has failed to innovate in years, bringing everything into a closed ecosystem was suppose to fix that… that’s right you can’t get your Motorola acquisition up to snuff and use Qualcomm and you use Samsung for displays.

The apps don’t utilized macro mode. So you cans do close up focuses. It’s been like this on third parties. I don’t think they ever utilized macro mode. The focal length is different on the iPhone 14

Nice of Apple to release an update within days of the release of a new handset, which shouldn't have had the bugs in the first instance. Surely you would think Apple tests these things - I understand if it was a deep rooted software bug, but the camera issue is such an obvious thing to test, especially when the main selling point for this 'upgrade' was the camera system.

Don't get me wrong, I'm firmly rooted in the Apple eco-system, but all the bug riddled software releases that seem rushed to market is getting tiring, whether its the iPhone or OSX. Just feels Apple used to release software that was so much more stable previously. Now I hold before updating, and do not update a full OSX operating system until I really need to!
Or you could be patient and wait a couple of weeks before getting your new iPhone and you won't be tired

I can’t believe so many of you upgraded from the 13 pro max or 13 Pro to the 14 pro max or 14 Pro and now you’re all having so much trouble with such a little upgrade Why would bother I think it’s hilarious. You all need to chill and take an apple pill. It’s dynamic My 13 pro max working perfectly fine here.
I can't believe that you thought your post would be considered noteworthy.

Interesting. I noticed the macro mode didn’t engage in those apps and was wondering if the third party apps just don’t use this, but then I checked the same apps on my 12 Pro at the same distance from the subject, and there was no issue with blurriness. But the focal length being different could affect this now. Well ****, maybe that’s the issue then. Seems kind of crazy still if so.

I’m seeing more prompts with this release for the “allow paste” bug than I was before. Anyone else seeing this as well?
