This release broke one of the apps I use. Kjazz app will not work correctly with AirPods. Pressing the button will not pause/resume, removing a bud no longer stops the audio, and Siri does not work via the AirPods.

iOS 16.4.1 have me a nasty bug, woke up to my phone telling me my storage was full, turns out my photos filled up my storage even though I only got like 3 photos, still storage tells me photos uses 39gb of storage, before update it was fine

A Reboot fixed it, lets see if it comes back with time

Emoji is a major issue in their minds, clearly. Who needs autocorrect to work properly when you can just say everything with heiroglyphics?
You may be on to something. I heard schools are not teaching handwriting like they use to. 😉

Think I’m going to leave this update, my phone is actually working reasonably okay at the moment (for an Apple device) so I’m just going to wait a few years 😂😂😂. Until the next emoji fix comes out !
All of my devices are on last year’s software. Can’t tell you how much time I’ve save by not having to update them every 4-6 weeks and figuring out how to fix the next broken thing. These OS’ aren’t perfect, but everything I use is working and that’s what is important to me.

They still do for small children. Not sure at what point they tell them to forget all that and start typing everything.

Just one of the many paradoxes of the school experience.

That sounds like a feature, not a bug... adding that damn skin tone selector when NONE of us have yellow skin is so annoying. And they ask for each new one... as if my tone changed from last time. Such a lame emoji feature (I know its not an Apple choice to add it to UNICODE).

I could be wrong but I thought it was originally yellow specifically because no one is actually yellow. The skin tone thing was years later.

Well what do you know, continuity camera between my iPhone and MBA is working again (not that I really use it, but I specifically ordered the Belkin magsafe mount to play around with it). 😛

Anyone else having trouble with CarPlay after this update?

It’s no longer working in my 2022 Mazda CX-30 (which is wired only). Phone still charges; just no connection to CarPlay. I have an iPhone 14 Pro.

I tried restarting the car, the phone, and deleting the car from iPhone CarPlay Settings—no help.

Edit: And now I fixed it. The car’s infotainment system settings has a “Apple CarPlay Devices” menu that lists each phone that has been connected, with the option to Enable or Disable CarPlay for each. My iOS 16.4.1 phone was set to “Never Enabled”—but my old phones were still listed with “Always Enabled.” Seems somehow the 16.4.1 update switched the car’s setting to disable CarPlay.

I remember iCloud working with few to little hiccups when it was first released
check out some of the comments, they’ll sound frighteningly familiar to today’s comments:
“What would Steve have done?

He was disappointed after the bad MobileMe launch... And now with all the iOS5 bugs and iCloud-errors...”
Wow, its almost like we never see a “what would Steve Jobs have done” comment these days…
“Ever since upgrading our iPhone 4 to iOS 5, we've had tremendous LAGS and DELAYS when typing text, such as typing the text in this comment field right now. These delays are ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE in Mail, where it sometimes takes 10 SECONDS for Mail to process what we're typing. This is tremendously annoying, and makes our iPhone 4 completely unusable!! Why did you do this to us, Apple?”
Gasp… software from Apple? Having bugs? Under Scott Forstall? How dare they.
“You are missing the point when you buy a Nokia or Samsung phone it works out of the box. There is no activation process. This all part of Apple desire for control that this process even exist.”
Blaming Apple for things unrelated to them? In 2011? On this forum? Impossible! Everything about Apple in 2011 was perfect, no issues, nothing wrong.
“Can’t innovate anymore, my a**”?
No, how about “things were perfect and rosy and happy under Steve, my a**.”

Kinda makes you wonder why Apple doesn’t allow the user (or prompt during iOS setup/data transfer/restore) the option to select their default skin tone?! That would be so much simpler wouldn’t it?!
I can think of plenty of reasons why they don’t ask questions like that on set up…
First reason, it’s weird.
You need to put it what is your skin tone to use your phone? How bizarre.

Well said, but if I may?

Weird: like Apple’s stance on personal computing since the beginning, the Think Different marketing compaign?

Bizzare: like What’s a Computer marketing web ad, or like using 3D facial scan for high level security on your phone?

We already put in our location, DOB + place of residence + debit and credit card info and logon to your bank, tax preparer account, employer EI report, Fed & State/pRovincial information anyway! Your photos and phone numbers as well as your phone already can find pictures of you into an AI driven album. How Bizarre indeed.

I’m curious what has changed with the last year or so of Tech Preview builds? Almost none can be used more than 15 minutes before problems are found.

Oh, don't get me started on Airpods Any.

Connects to Laptop, my HomePods, my car, etc even though the things ARE IN MY EAR. (And I have other device calls turned off)

Not a problem until iOS 15 when suddenly nope, had to be difficult.
Yes, the AirPods auto switching between devices used to be a magical experience. Now it’s a cluster and leaves me asking what the heck it is doing most of the time!

I could start tethering directly from my macbook until 2 days ago. Now I can't even see my iPhone in wifi list. Has anyone else got the same problem?

Are they gonna fix HomeKit? It's still broken for me. I am spending this weekend starting over from scratch because my basement TV now gets turned on if I ask to turn on my third story bedroom.

Half my kitchen lights are labeled correctly as Kitchen, but turn on when I ask to turn on the Den.

HomeKit can't make up its mind if I have an Ecobee thermostat or not, despite the thermostat being in Home App. Asking Siri five times to change the temperature is annoying, and even more frustrating is having to take five minutes to go up and down the stairs to manually change the temp. Not something a cripple wants to have to do after spending money on smart devices for convenience. It's annoying to have to crutch up and down the stairs. The Home App won't let me change anything, I'll set it to 64 H and it'll not change anything. Ecobee App crashes when I open it, working on that with Ecobee.

Also, I do not have an Automation for arriving home, but I get a random Billboard Top 20 that plays whenever I get home.
Not only do I not like Taylor Swift, I would use her CDs at a skeet shoot.

And lastly, Siri keeps asking me to unlock my iPhone again to tell me what time it is, or what the weather is. I'm not asking for much here, folks.
I had a problem with HomeKit when I upgraded my iPhone and iPad. Turns out the issue was that the new versions of iOS use a new HomeKit framework. I lost all the automations and it just said that the home hub was paused. I found that the issue was that my home hubs (my Apple TVs and my HomePods) were using the old HomeKit system. Updating my HomePods and AppleTVs fixed the problem and it works better than ever. See the HomeKit forum on MacRumors. I’ll edit this answer to include the link on how to update your home hubs.

Just an observation. I think HomeKit does not play well with other home softwares. One example, Sonos and HomeKit do not play nicely On the speaker side. Have to pick one or the other. Best to remove any that are not being used.

THe issue of me downloading my podcasts from iTunes to the phone is still not working because it disappears after I close the podcast app.

I'm guessing the bug with downloads not being automatically deleted after 24 hours is still there too

But that was the server overload, not necessarily it glitching out
