Definitely not. I turned them off 100%.
Significant locations is turned on with this update and I can see my visits of the last three days. How is that possible? That only means Apple is recording things while it is turned off.
I found that in order to use CarPlay I was warned it had to be on. Pretty sure that’s for the automatic “where did I park my car” feature.

Was not using Carplay. It does not to be turned on if you do not want to, but probably will not be able to use the dude where did i park my car feature.

I'm not installing it. My 15PM is perfect. Great battery, no overheating.
This never change a running system is not useful anymore with modern devices.
The update as well contains other fixes and security updates. With 17.1 you would get these changes (and more) as well.

When they release 17.1, i hope it will be fixed.

I just did Geekbench before and after on a 15 pro max.
NB phone was warmer after the install which could affect result.

I did benchmark on Geekbench before and after the 17.0.3 install, and the results are the same. No throttling, and OUCH my phone is so cold now that I need gloves to hold it. #frostbitegate. :):):)

My phone did not have any overheating issues (512g iPhone 15 Pro Max) and was only warm on Qi and Magesafe charging which is expected. I am serious when I say my phone is cold now. I will keep everyone posted if anything changes related to heat but I think Apple nailed it.

why is the new update giving me "time to destination" every time I get in the car. It doesnt even know where I am going. My calendar is empty. This is absurd.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the overheating was likely caused by "compromises made in the thermal system design," and he suggested that Apple would only be able to fix the issue by lowering processor performance.

This shows you that this clown has no idea what the hell he’s talking about. How could this “analyst” be so wrong? Just make crap up all the time with no way to support what you say? Zero credibility.

Maybe you are correct.
But they have a bunch of idiots there and this would be the only way to get them to use their brain and put some effort and pride into what they are doing. I’ve never seen so many glitches and issues in apple software like in the last 10 years.
There are some issues that are so obvious that I can’t stop thinking they are not using apple devices at apple.
Simple statistics. The testing pool at Apple during development is in the hundreds. Then the testing pool is in the thousands to hundreds of thousands. Then upon release the testing pool is millions. It is very possible that a problem isn't large enough to be seen when in the hundreds or even thousands. To assume because they missed a problem that they are "idiots" is unfounded. Unless you are yourself an OS developer and see a glarging issue in the code that only an "idiot" would miss, you are certainly unfair in your assessment. These OSes now are so featured and complicated that there will be mistakes (bugs). I certainly have never been upset by having a bug in my iPhone and went to the degree to call someone an "idiot" But that is just me.

Has anyone tried to ascertain why some models overheat and some dont? I have a natural titanium 256GB pro with no issues whatsoever. A friend has black pro 512GB with severe issues. I updated via phone-to-phone, friend updated via icloud. We both have all the Meta apps but obviously not the same amount of photos and not all apps are the same. If this was a legit software bug (and not a bad batch of cpu) I think it would be more widespread.

Variability in processor manufacturing. If TSMC N3B yields are low as rumored, the fab can increase yield in exchange for chips with more variation in performance and power consumption. Some chips will be better or worse than the average.
