I am sorry what!? We have to join waitlist? Downloading the update means nothing, except that we can join a waitlist! Also, seems they will check "eligibility" to enable Apple Intelligence. What does that even mean?

Any idea what we get for this in the UK?

It's all about AI and yet we still have 18.1 released in the UK but what do we get? Seems like an update for the sake of it

So, what am I missing the fancy Siri flashing edges? My 16 Pro still just has the little ball when I activate Siri.
Did all of the Major cell carriers lie to me during football yesterday?
Give it some time. Mine went from Joined Waitlist to now Preparing. Maybe they need to verify folks are on the right device?

Apple should give all EU countries the base minimum and no new features. Thank your EU for constantly going after Apple because they can’t invent everything.

Agreed. Make the EU pay Apple per feature to unlock use in the EU 😂

After updating, my Work Focus mode's icon groups on the Home Screen show placeholder icons for almost all apps within... When I click into the group, the app icons are fine, when I go back to Home Screen, they go to placeholders again. If I leave the phone alone, the icons gradually start to appear one by one at a snails pace. If I reboot the phone, they reset to placeholders AGAIN.

This is a BAD start to 18.1 🤬

Wow I feel like an idiot spending 1K on an iPhone expecting these features, finally get the software to run it; and now I need to join a waitlist to get any of the features that have been marketed to me the entire time.

I'm a sucker
I set my UK iPhone to US when on the beta and joined the wait list, it didn't take long to get access to AI. I'm impressed so far with it. Looking forward to having it with British accent and spelling :D

Downloaded now and running. But why I have to go on Waitlist? 🤔
Probably because of those of testing 18.2 beta 1 on our iPhones and iPads have been waiting a week (most of us that is) to get access for the playground and with all the 18.1 downloads probably makes for a longer/bigger waitlist unfortunately for the minor Apple Intelligence features it will have for you.

Does it download automatically or what

I've basically lost all enthusiasm for this Apple Intelligence update. The most interesting features still aren't ready and the ones we are getting today are basically region locked to one country. Even the AirPods Pro 2 stuff isn't available here. If Apple are going to announce new features to the whole world, they should make sure it's going to be available for the whole world.

It’s okay! The EU will sue Apple over it for more money and regulation!

Me after joining a waitlist for access to the features advertised on my new 1200$ iPhone

On iPhone 13 I see nothing re the promised AirPods Pro 2 hearing test and now I am unable to access custom audio setup in the accessibility settings as it's greyed out! Restart and other fixes tried. Is the hearing test only on iPhone 15 Pro and 16?
EDIT: I have now accessed Custom Audio settings by factory resetting the AirPods but still no sign of the hearing test.

Says something like you're on the waitlist then when approved (only took a few minutes from what I remember), all the AI stuff in 18.1 beta was enabled - only thing that needing downloading extra was the Clean Up in photo's the first time I used that. I set my phone back to UK English and lost the summaries and AI text magic, but the photo's Clean Up is still enabled and useable.
