Something to note - both my Air and 17 Pro are scorching hot after this update. Waiting for them to cool down, had to put them on top of the air purifier vent so that wind can cool them off, never had a phone get this hot before.

Also, none of the visual bugs since beta 7 were fixed.
That’s not a bug, it’s a feature! Apple forgot to mention that the 17s have a built-in hand warmer😅

<<For those who are unable to update to iOS 26.0.1, Apple has released a iOS 18.7.1 update.>>

You mean for those who want no part of iOS 26. I bought my first Apple product in 1995, a Power Macintosh 8500. This is the first time in 30 years Apple has released something so bad and perplexing that I will walk away rather than accept it and pretend to like it.
Like iOS 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, … all until their last last point release, and even then they were dicey. I’m still avoiding the last 18.x. I can’t trust any of them anymore. Software everywhere is awful these days. Not enough excuses to go around.

Enterprise gear is just as bad. I think all this stupid agile CI/CD crap is ..well…crap. Nothing gets a chance to get its sea legs, it’s constantly bumping and tripping over itself. No one can hold their attention long enough before moving on to some new candy. Everything is something bitten off more than can be chewed, and nothing is well understood. “MVP” indeed: minimum viable pro

That’s why you get stupid bugs that are just repeats of old bugs. We’re back to “ooo I got a clever idea how to do FOO thing!”. No, no you don’t. We tried that. It didn’t work. Wheels are round, move on to the next mousetrap. Read the book where we documented those findings. I see this everywhere in my enterprise software release notes. It’s maddening.

My wife loves it and hasn’t noticed any battery drain on her 13 (I didn’t want her to update right away but she doesn’t listen to me for anything else, so why start now).

She notes some apps are now having a slight delay launching, especially FaceID and the camera.

I’m staying on 17.6.1 for my 15 for a while longer!

Is anyone else noticing issues with inertial scrolling in Safari when using the glass interface? The transparency seems to introduce lag. With “Reduce Transparency” turned ON, scrolling quickly up and down the page feels smoother, especially as the motion slows to a stop. When the transparent glass effect is enabled the scrolling feels choppier like its struggling to render the transparency. This is on a 15MP. It’s minor but it’s there if you’re sensitive to display refresh.

Careful! The fanbois that can’t admit iOS 26 is a disaster so far are going to downvote you into oblivion with a comment like that. 18.7.1 here working properly as it should 👏

I’m not a fanboy, I’m just so tasteless I can’t tell it’s bad.

Glad to see this update. My 17 Pro Max is still not shipped, not sure whether it will come pre installed with this version, otherwise will definitely update as soon as I receive it.

I would say not bad but controversial more like. It’s bad in the sense that it is still very buggy. But the problem is deeper. Apple decided to use transparency which may be attractive (a lot of people here like it, at list for now) but it’s just objectively very distracting. I know that some people just accept it (mostly younger whose brains still manage distractors without problems). For me personally it’s just unacceptable because 1/ not being young anymore and am easily distracted by LG, 2/ I think (subjectively, I know) that LG is just ugly and will fall out of fashion relatively qyickly. We’ll see in (a) few years.

Worst part is that I love new Apple Watch SE3 but cannot use it without upgrading iPhone to iOS 26. Bad luck. Fortunately it’s just “nice to have” product.

OK, I updated a little earlier and am trying to update my Watch too. But it seems I now have a Wifi bug on my 17 that I didn't have before: it was downloading the update to the watch, the display turned off, and when I unlocked a little later the Wifi connection was off (and it can't complete the Watch update). Same thing happened again a few minutes after I resumed the Watch update. Be careful out there.
I have the same issues as before the update, woke up to no WiFi connection as usual, have to toggle on and off to get it back, and my battery drops just as fast as before, thinking of returning my phone for something else, I need my phone to be useable, the other thing it keeps doing is having the WiFi symbol but nothing works, I still have to toggle on and off to get it back working, very infuriating at this point

Still having WiFi issues specifically around roaming from one access point to another.

As a test today, I held my 17 Pro and 15 Pro Max next to each other and walked around the house. The 15 Pro Max roamed to the closest WiFi access point like clockwork (just as it always has), while the 17 Pro stuck to the first access point it was connected to until the signal wasn't strong enough and it disconnected.

Specifics:

Both iPhones are on iOS 26.0.1.
Both were on the same SSID.
Access points are UniFi U6-LR and 2x U6-Lite's. All AP's are using 80mhz channel width, and not using DFS.

Seriously considering taking the 17 Pro back for a refund and putting a new battery in my 15 Pro Max.
