Unlocking the phone with Face ID since 26.0 has been very erratic! 26.0.1 didn't fix this bug. Might work once, then the next 6-7 times it kicks me to "Enter Passcode."

I've turned "Require Attention for Face ID" in settings but it didn't do anything.
I thought I was the only one. 26.0.1 made it very buggy when it comes to FaceID on my 13 mini. Until then it worked great

On my partner's iPhone Air, the CarPlay issues have been causing a significant amount of stress, to the point where I was asked to see if I could return the phone. Apart from that, the device is excellent. No overheating, none whatsoever.

However, on my iPhone 16 PM, I have yet to see any such issues despite being on the same OS as the iPhone Air.
I'm giving this OS update a chance to help the cause; otherwise, I will be forced to return the device.

..on my 15 pro has been quite similar, but after 25 minutes goes on and restart upgrading system ;)
After three hours of the progress bar stuck at 99%, I called Apple support.

Kind person said to force reset then redo the installation. That worked on both my iPhone 17 Pro Max as well as my iPad Pro 13 inch which was also stuck at 99%.

My iPad Pro 11 inch zoomed through the upgrade with no trouble on first try.

Apple today released iOS 26.0.1 and iPadOS 26.0.1, the first updates to the iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 operating systems that came out earlier this week.

iOS-26.0.1-Feature.jpg

The new software can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

According to Apple's release notes for the update, iOS 26.0.1 addresses a bug that could cause aberrations in photos captured with the iPhone Air and the iPhone 17 Pro models. It also fixes ongoing cellular and Wi-Fi issues that iPhone 17 owners have been dealing with, and addresses a bug with tinted icons. Apple's release notes are below.
The iPadOS 26.0.1 update fixes the same VoiceOver issue and also addresses a bug that could cause the floating keyboard to change positions unexpectedly.

For those who are unable to update to iOS 26.0.1, Apple has released a iOS 18.7.1 update.

It never ceases to amaze me that Apple has never been able to release ANYTHING that doesn't need updates to fix problems days/weeks after launch.

I had none of these issues. I'm actually scared to update lol
I had no issues either with my 17 PM and the installed 26.0. But i updated in case (there were a couple suspicious issues with a known weak WiFi at our church) so i installed 26.0.1 the one suspicious WiFi often cuts out and my phone defaults to cell but its not issue for my needs there. Before 26.0.1 I did also have one odd occurrence with my Mazda Cx-5 and a phone call that connected but the volume or voice was week even when I turned car volume up I just switched to (it gave me option) to audio on phone and all was fine. So that’s not a disconnection just weird occurrence with the phone call connection through the car I had never experienced.

Yup same bug for me. Face ID was HORRID on 26 but new
Update fixed it. Now it responds/behaves like it always has, snappy and hyper responsive.

This update fixed my iPhone 15 Pro which has been insanely laggy since installing the iOS 26.0 RC, 20 days ago.

Notably, my Messages never fully indexed and search was broken since I installed the RC. I installed 26.0.1 yesterday, and the lag was immediately gone. By today, my Messages were fully searchable again.

Updated my iPhone 14 Max, and after restart, the screen was locked and would not respond to any touches of the screen. Tried to reboot, but since the screen would not repond when I wanted to put in the passcode, I was stuck. I had to plug in my phone to my Mac, and then push the voluem "up" and then the volume "down" button, folliwng with the power button (long hold until the phone restarted). Once rebotted, all is normal. This was not a good experience if you were traveling and you installed the update and you are now locked out of your phone and don't have access to a computer.

On the iPhone 15 Pro, the 26.0.1 update surprisingly seems to make the battery last longer, and I hope it is true: I updated last night, and from this morning until 9 PM, I had more than 45% charge remaining, with average usage no different than yesterday (when I reached the evening with 15-20%).
Has anyone noticed this improvement?

My Apple Intelligence was working fine before the update, and now this update broke my Apple Intelligence on my 17 Pro Max 🫤

Anyone else having Apple Music pause their music constantly? Seems like when I open apps, lock phone or any random action. Already tried rebootng, only thing that changed was updating to this version on my iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Like iOS 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, … all until their last last point release, and even then they were dicey. I’m still avoiding the last 18.x. I can’t trust any of them anymore. Software everywhere is awful these days. Not enough excuses to go around.

Enterprise gear is just as bad. I think all this stupid agile CI/CD crap is ..well…crap. Nothing gets a chance to get its sea legs, it’s constantly bumping and tripping over itself. No one can hold their attention long enough before moving on to some new candy. Everything is something bitten off more than can be chewed, and nothing is well understood. “MVP” indeed: minimum viable pro

That’s why you get stupid bugs that are just repeats of old bugs. We’re back to “ooo I got a clever idea how to do FOO thing!”. No, no you don’t. We tried that. It didn’t work. Wheels are round, move on to the next mousetrap. Read the book where we documented those findings. I see this everywhere in my enterprise software release notes. It’s maddening.
Hilariously, just today I deployed a new Azure VM for a customer’s security management server. As I was applying the system settings, my deployment script failed. The new version has a bug when setting the timezone. Any timezone with a “-“, “_”, “+”, or “-“ failed with a “validation error”. Because “GMT+5” or “UTC-4” never existed? Ugh.

I couldn’t even use “America/Buenos_Aires”. This worked fine in the previous version. Sigh. Agile indeed. So agile it fell off the wagon. 🙄
Maybe they should un-CI whatever code they changed and leave it alone.

Wasting my time on stupid stuff. Now I gotta open a case and convince their arrogant programmers they screwed up because they didn’t unit test their code.

I have issues with Apple Music repeating the same 12 songs when in auto-play mode that should be doing the “more like this” (like the Discovery station). It does well for a while then it goes stupid as if it reached the end of the Internet, then just loops back around again.

Or.. maybe I have listened to ALL the music after all… 🤔

Would have been nice to allow the Apple Pencil to be able to resize and move the windows - missed a trick there

After updating to 26.0.1 on my 17 Pro and my wife’s 17, both phones are having Bluetooth issues with our Tesla phone key. It is quite frustrating. It was working without issue on 26.0.

Anyone else get stuck at this point for at least 45 minutes?

( iPhone 17 Pro Max )
Yup …. Ipadpro m1 … had to hard reset … that didn’t work … thrn DFU restore … then update … same issue … hard reset … then it finished

Absolute trash by iApple

@TJFDenver ouch, DFU restore! I had it a little easier.

I completely adore Apple products. (Never thought I'd prefer MBPs to Thinkpads!)
Like the new liquid glass interface.

But I gotta agree - from a quality standpoint this 26.0 release has been the worst experience ever.

Ex:

1 - iPhone 17 Pro Max - torture: No access to Contacts, Phone, or Messages for a week, till 26.0.1. I just saw a blank white screen. (posted a topic about this)
Thank god I could get to a CSV of my contacts via Numbers, then DICTATE the phone number to call via Siri. I have a high pain tolerance for bugs, but this exceeded it.
My stress level the past week has been off the charts.

2 - On the Series 11 Watch, I just now had to unpair and completely RESET the watch to force it to take the 26.0.2 upgrade.
