Can anyone confirm that Safari on the iPhone 4 is better?

Yeah. Quite a bit. Full sites load noticeably faster, and JS-heavy sites, it's even more noticeable. Menus and such pop up FAST and it's not so wonky trying to select and item from them.

I should probably also add:

Home sharing, works great, easy to setup if you go to iPod in Settings first and enter your Apple ID info.
ATV update is showing as available for me and downloading but is taking a long time, so I can't comment on video from iPhone. And I don't even know which websites to try out for streaming video via Airplay to Apple TV. I mean sites that wouldn't have worked with the first version of Airplay. Any suggestions? No porn sites please; I my kids are in the house.
Updating my iPad now. Expect similar performance and feature improvements.
I don't have a tethering plan so can't comment on personal hotspot.

Wagoner cant get it...

Isnt anyone wondering how Mr. Wagoner will update his iPhone 4 from inside of a tent??? No power supply, and the MCP and iPhone batteries last a couple of days at best.

Thanks. I did that once before but absolutely could not get iTunes to recognize the file.

That's why I added:

lol

Any other ways to trick iTunes?

You have to download and save the file as a .ipsw
If you browser tries to save it as .zip file make sure you rename it.
That's probably why you had probs before using it.

no new software

mine still lists 4.2.1 as the most current version for my iphone 3g

btw your signature should be 'for all intents and purposes'...'for all intensive purposes' actually means absolutely nothing.

No you don't get it. The person has an awesome (it doesn't say "you're awesome"). This awesome is great for intensive purposes :)

for one.. that's kinda mean. gosh. and 2nd.. he has access to all those Macs at the apple store.. I think he can update via one of those =P

Home sharing is surprisingly difficult to get working. I followed this guide:

http://www.lockergnome.com/ios/2011/03/04/how-to-enable-home-sharing-on-ios-4-3/

And finally got my shared library to show up on the iPad, but selecting it just gave me a spinner and nothing happened for at least 5 minutes. Now I can't even see my shared library at all.

Oh well, I'll stick with StreamToMe and Air Video, which are really simple and actually work.

EDIT: OK, I had to reboot the iPad *twice*, and it's finally working. Weird.

* HD video out using the Apple Digital AV Adapter
- View 720p HD videos from Videos app, iPod app, Photos, YouTube, Safari, Keynote, and enabled third-party apps on an HDMI display

Wait a second. What do you mean "enabled third-party apps?" I thought it was "if you see it on the ipad you can see it on the screen"? Unless full mirroring is an ipad 2 only thing.

Ug. Home Sharing sucks goat hair on my iPod touch. It takes 3 minutes for it to establish a connection to my iTunes library and just as long to sort through all my videos. I may as well just sync the damn thing.

4g iPod Touch? Mine is really speedy, decent size library too: 7500+ songs, 87 movies and 10 tv series. Took a little bit to load cover art at first but the listings were all there quickly...

a) Mirroring is an iPad 2 only thing
b) What you are quoting is not talking about mirroring

ok, thanks.

just added .ipsw to the end and saved as All Files

(I'm doing this remotely to the home computer)

It totally mystifies me why there is still no way to view Genre Albums in the iPad iPod app. The feature has been in the iPhone forever and I just assumed it was left out in the initial rush to get the iPad out the door, but it's not there 3 OS revs later. Annoys the heck out of me.

you did go to the "more" section rite?

SDK with Xcode 4 now available. WOOT!

EDIT: Proof with Screenshot.

EDIT 2: Xcode 4 could be purchased from the Mac App Store or downloaded for free from the Dev site. 3.2.6 is available for grabs though.

EDIT 3: I can't get it from the App Store (your request could not be completed or something like that.
