Wait a second. What do you mean "enabled third-party apps?" I thought it was "if you see it on the ipad you can see it on the screen"? Unless full mirroring is an ipad 2 only thing.

Mirroring is iPad 2 VIA HDMI ADAPTER ONLY. There's no Airplay mirroring for either iPad, not even iPad 2. Only playing of media off compatible websites and the aforementioned enabled third-party apps, which works with both iPads, and iPhone 3GS and 4.

My iPhone 4 is pronto and can be used again. Okili dokili so far. 35 minutes all together. Phone calls are working, the technically demanding racer game Asphalt 6 works, email works, CalDAV sync works, Safari is a bit snappier maybe…

Now the iPad:

And then Apple TV 2… Lot of work today.

4g iPod Touch? Mine is really speedy, decent size library too: 7500+ songs, 87 movies and 10 tv series. Took a little bit to load cover art at first but the listings were all there quickly...
Well, I have over 1,000 movies, and over 10,000 TV episodes which may be why it takes several minutes for my iPod touch to connect via Home Sharing. It's a big pain in the ass to sort through all those videos with the iPod touch just to find one that I want to watch. I doubt I'll be using Home Sharing on my iPod touch.

SunSpider 0.9.1 benchmark for iOS iPhone4 on WiFi

4.2
test one: 9636.9ms
test two: 9500.0+ ms (the screen shot hasn't been saved cause the phone rebooted to install 4.3)

4.3
test one: 4283.4ms
test two: 4073.8ms

Been looking forward to the Hotspot. Now, hopefully my carrier (Rogers), hasn't messed with it.
haha ... you & me both!!

Rest Assured they'll allow for cheaper pricing for shared data with the iPad and other tablets. Bell is not too far in total subscriber numbers and with cheaper rates - faster HSPA+ network already built out (not in a lab in Ottawa for LTE that Rogers has claimed) they ARE FINALLY scared of CHURN to the other players.

Hey guys, where is iTunes saving the .ipsw file? It finished a while back but I couldn't find it on the hidden AppData folder that you normally find it in Windows. I'm currently downloading it all over again from a direct download.

Good questions because I don't want to get rid of Hulu, and XBMC on my Apple TV2

May I ask how you have hulu running on your ATV2? The lack of an official app for hulu content (or, at least until today, the inability to stream from iPad app to tv) is about the only thing keeping me from picking one up. Any help would be great.

As a side note, the MLB.tv thing looks awesome, just one more reason to throw $99 and get an ATV finally.

What's the deal with using this on an old 3G?
I never upgraded to 4.0 due to the many bad things I read about it.
Any advise?

I would like to know what the "compatible websites" are? And when Hulu Plus will be available for ATV2. As far as I can tell the new Airplay features do NOTHING!!

Well, the main thing here is if you don't have an Airplay device like ATV as part of your stereo system, or you want to use headphones and listen via iPhone or iPad, you can't do that with Remote. With Remote you can Airplay to an Airplay-capable home theater setup, but you can't Airplay to an iPhone or iPad.

yeah, that's a good point. I do have 3 APX's and 2 :apple:tv's so I always just turn on the tunes and select the room. I use remote every day.

Silly of me to assume that I was in the majority there. :)

OK, that's what I was thinking. The "via hdmi enabled displays" part at the end confused me into thinking it's the new mirroring thing since I don't think there's an AV adapter that does hdmi, best is component out.

All of the sudden the term "decent size library" is squashed... Yes I would imagine the device is having a rough time pulling in all that artwork and info...

I just installed 4.3, I am on Rogers and I dont have the Personal hotspot... am I doing something wrong?

Edit:

Nevermind. I found it...

I posted this above but quick repeat. Go into Settings on your phone. Go to iPod settings. Fill in under "home sharing" the Apple ID and password associated with the iTunes account on your Mac. Then go to the iPod app on your iPhone. Select "more," lower right side of screen. Now "Shared" will show up in the list. Select it. Select your Mac from the list. iTunes has to be running on your Mac for home sharing to work.

thx
but it not working...
shared didin show up:confused:

I have it installed and it does work very well (tested it with a friend's iPad). This is good news as I was planning on buying an iPad2 and wanted to make sure the tethering was going to work. Now that it does, I only need a WiFi model, if it didn't I was going to get the 3G version (and then gripe about it :D)

hotspot

did the download, the personal hotspot works GREAT! No action required from AT&T to use it, either!
