Apple Releases iOS 5.0.1 to Address Battery Life Issues [Updated]

I must be one of the few people who is experiencing issues . . .

Software Update Failed
An error occurred downloading iOS 5.0.1

I've restarted and tried a few times over the last 30 minutes . . . I guess I'll just keep trying.

question didn't iOS 5 Beta have a red circle with a 1 balloon on setting when there was an iOS update?

I think they should put that on there like a push notifaction like letting you know there an update

Devices with iOS 5.0+ should automatically check for updates, but it will take a while for devices to "notice" that there's an update available.

OTA update here in Toronto available!!! But i think i'm gonna hold off and see if the upcoming jailbreak is compatible with 5.0.1

Everyone, STOP saying the color of your iphone for an iOS update!!!

Color doesn't mean anything for a software update.

I d/l the update through iTunes...

...but i thought it was strange I got the white iPhone 4S update for my black iPhone 4S???

It just showed up for me; 55mb. It took a minute maybe to download over wifi. It's preparing now.

Why does iTunes still not have delta support?

How would you do a restore with a delta update. I doubt iTunes will ever download delta updates.

OTA on my AT&T iPhone 4 here in Arizona, was a 45MBish download.

Overall my phone seems more responsive and snappier after the update . I never had a problem with battery life on iOS 5, but I'll have no complaints if this improves it even more.

Why is my OTA iOS 5.0.1 larger at 55.5 MB for my white iPhone 4s??

Hey for my pink iphone the update was larger than that at 55.8MB
Must be cause of the color they had to inject special code in there

That only appears when you're not paranoid like allmus macrumors folk and check constantly for updates. Jk. But seriously, it shows up when the phone checks for updates once a week and finds an update.

The update worked perfectly. Battery life was ok before, hopefully it gets even better.

I'm getting a error message via iTunes saying that my iPhone could not be updated. And the device isn't eligible for the requested build. My iPhone is a 64GB 4S and isn't jailbroken. I have however installed jail breaking software on my computer for friends.

This is silly.

Looks like I'll be using the hotspot feature of my phone to update the wifes iPhone 4 using my HSDPA connection over wifi.

Despite the downranking, it's working!

I was just talking about how I cant wait for this an hour ago because my battery drains like there no tomorrow and I plug it in to charge and its there!

Hope this fixes my battery being at 20% by lunch time

Im curious what is the meaning of all the different sizes of the DL files. I understand there may be different versions for different models and maybe even carriers as well, but what would be responsible for t
he differences between people with the same phone (4s) on the same carrier in the U.S....there can't be regional differences can there? Im just curious.
