lol it's onyl been up for 20 mins, performance questions need a bit more than that :p beta 1 took a little while to stablise performance wise, so guessin this would be the same.

pretty much all features were in beta 1, just not wifi sync and OTA updates, unless i missed something

Ah right, I thought it had been a wee bit longer than 20 minutes lol.

Just wondered if it was a wee bit smoother than Beta 1, if anyone can be kind enough to let us know once they've had time to use it for themselves, it'd be appreciated. Beta 1 wasn't awful by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't quite as "fluid" as 4.3 ... I don't imagine too much work will have gone into optimising the UI just yet though.

OK, am I the only one seeing the irony here? :)

iOS 5 brings PC Free to the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

Initial USB cable sync required, iTunes 10.5 running on Windows XP or above or Mac OS X 10.6 and above also required (but not included). All rights reserved.

nuts, there goes being able to Wifi Sync for me then apparantly!

think it went up about 11pm.

beta 1 was just as smooth as 4.3.3 for me, i had no ounce of lag on my devices

any word if you can atleast install the beta on your phone with a windows machine? even with the older beta itunes for it?

I just upgraded from Beta 1 to Beta 2 and restored from my iCloud backup in 3 minutes. It restored all my settings, apps, text messages, contacts, photos, etc. Pretty awesome!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

I hope the wi-fi sync will support older versions of Mac OSX in the final release.

I'm willing to bet iTunes 10.5 beta 2 enables wireless sync; must be some reason why it's not on Windows yet.

iTunes 10.5b2 is needed for wifi syncing, it's in the notes.

Yes there is a beta for windows. if you go to the dev centre in iOS go to the bottom and click on iCloud beta and it comes up with a windows version of iTunes

but is that beta 1 that went up 2 weeks back with iOS5? or is it beta 2 that came out today?

817 mb for the iPhone 4. Installing in a few minutes. Can confirm that checking for new software for either iTunes or on the phone itself showed nothing.

Does an iCloud restore restore App Data as well as the apps themselves?

WiFi sync is gonna be damn useful! So many times I've gone to do a sync and not been able to find a cable... I blame my cats stealing it!

That said, the whole "Sync at night whilst charging" thing seems a bit pointless to me... at night while my iPhone is in its dock charging my computer is off/sleeping.
