Netflix still no worky. Im guessing Netflix will need to fix it due to an old API call of some sort.

Actually, you're wrong. Someone else already confirmed that there is iTunes 10.5 beta 2 for windows. I'm already running iTunes 10.5 beta 1 64-bit on Windows 7.

does anyone know where in the developer site the Windows downloads section is?

I hope the wi-fi sync will support older versions of Mac OSX in the final release.

In iOS 5.0 beta 2, wireless syncing is now available for the Mac. It requires iTunes 10.5 beta 2 and OS X 10.6.8 or Lion.

Installed great. No problems thus far. Big file size though - 817mb for iPhone 4..

BGR reporting that notifications on the lockscreen are much bigger, anyone have a screenshot?

iTunes sync in action

Even if the sync is initiated through iTunes on a PC or a Mac, the status for the same is displayed in -Settings-General-iTunesSync.

Here's a taste of it:

EDIT: Just updated all my album artwork in iTunes and applied sync through my iPad. Works like a charm. iTunes sync is great. Most welcomed!

Restore from iCloud backup

So the install went fine and I restored from my most recent iCloud back up, but when it finished it didn't save any of my passwords and I got about 10 pop up notifications at once asking me to re-enter my passwords. Is this happening to other people or do I have some backup settings turned off that I shouldn't?

I don't think it has ever backed up passwords. Probably for security reasons since if anyone got ahold of your laptop or your iCloud u/p they could get all your passwords by restoring from a backup of your.

Help me see the light

Would somebody please enlighten me?

What is the point?

If the device has to be plugged in, the computer has to be on, iTunes has to be running, WTF, why not just plug the device into the computer? It would be a lot faster, that's for sure.

Guess I'm missing something here.

I thought Wireless Syncing was going to be via the Cloud.

Your device doesn't have to be plugged in: You can initiate a sync manually (it will only automatically sync when plugged in to save battery life).

How is the ipad music app running now on beta 2? the beta 1 iPad music app was really prone to skipping and very buggy.
Has your iPad shut off yet? Like it did in beta 1...

Thanks, ya that's what I figured, and the concern is reasonable, annoying, but reasonable :)

Wireless syncing was never advertised as being through iCloud. It makes syncing something the user doesn't need to think about. So, first benefit is that it is simple. Second benefit is for those less technically minded - MacRumors just last week posted suggesting 50% of iPhones have never been synced. This will make that statistic a thing of the past, and have more users taking more of the potential from their device.

You cant really choose what to sync either (correct me if im wrong). Its more of a handy local backup sync assuming you leave your computer on

Can I ask a really stupid question?

If my iMac is connected to the Internet via Ethernet cord but from the same source (airport extreme) as the wireless network, will the wifi sync work? Or would my iMac actually have to be connected via wireless?

The cloud is for backups and app data. Wireless syncing is for home. Some people have iTunes running all the time because they use home sharing. But I do see your point on having to check all that is on to sync would be almost the same as having to plug in. But you can have 1 less cord now. Also in settings you can intiate sync with a button press.

It won't help with that one bit. If they never synced before, why would they do the initial connection to the computer to setup wifi sync?

Well, personally speaking, I've lost count of the times on a busy morning getting ready for work where I've left my phone downstairs on charge and had to run down for it, bring it back upstairs, plug it into the Mac, wait for it to sync/back-up, then put some songs on it for the train to work.

With WiFi sync I could simply make the changes on the Mac since the iPhone will still show in the devices list on the left of iTunes, and the sync will occur over the air. I presume that's a scenario that could work.

Downloaded everything and when I connected my iPhone to update got this message. Same thing with iPad. Anyone knows why I'm getting that?

It just has to be on the same network. And yours is on the same network; meaning it is to the same router. So your good.

Of course, will be quicker too
