I found a weird bug.
Some of my Apps on the home screen have glossy icons now when they shouldn't. Like Facebook and Google+. I might redownload them or reboot in a bit to see if it fixes it.

This was after an OTA update from 4 to 5, no settings clearage.

It's just not compatible with the beta I think

Ok I thought that of course but can't they fix it?

Also for EVERYONE who says that iOS update hasn't happened for them:
I was one of the first to get it on my iPhone. I still can't get it on my iPad 2...
So calm down. Hehe

I don't think Apple is accepting iOS 5 apps yet, so I doubt they could fix it

What I don't get is why people are saying backup to iTunes too. If I backup to iCLoud and then just restore from it, won't iTunes just continue working as normal when I install the beta 5 version? Or will it not back my iPhone up anymore? AFAIK when you move from iOS version to iOS version iTunes should still recognize it if it wasn't erased. But on that train of thought I guess we ARE erasing the device before doing the update. Hmmm...

According to BGR the said that you can now move your MobileMe account to iCloud is that true?

Here's the quote from them :"When creating an iCloud account, you can use any Apple ID as long as it is a full email address and not a MobileMe account. If you have a MobileMe account, you can move that account to iCloud. You can find more information on iCloud at: http://developer.apple.com/icloud"

It depends. In many cases, apps that don't work on iOS 5 can be fixed by doing things differently using the iOS 4 SDK. These sorts of updates can be submitted whenever the developer wants. The only things that can't be submitted are apps that use iOS-5 specific APIs.

This post is exactly why you shouldn't be installing iOS betas that are meant for developers. Apple isn't even accepting applications built for iOS 5.

Wait so if we decide to forego the OTA update, then should we update to beta 5 through iTunes beta 4? This doesn't make any sense as it requires you to restore from an update right after the update is installed, and the directions indicate that the restore must be done from the new iTunes beta 5?

Very confused.

I'm doing a restore from an iCloud backup, and it's only redownloading one or two apps at a time, and only doing one folder at a time. With the other betas, it would download and install multiple apps from multiple folders at the same time. Anyone else having this issue?

I desperately hope that means those of us with Apple IDs that predate getting a MobileMe account don't end up with two iCloud accounts, one with iTunes purchases and the other with email/contacts/calendars.

You can't, they are talking about being able to move the data in MobileMe over to iCloud by syncing it manually which has existed since Beta 1. You can't properly move your MobileMe account over to iCloud yet and keep the same email etc.

Crap. I just tried to do the update through iTunes, with the Phone connected and iTunes quit. It put the Phone into restore mode.

Help anyone?

i didn't get it on my iPad 2, but when i did the erase contents and settings, it was automatically downloading beta 5 once i finished the iCloud setup screen to restore settings

Camera+ and Mashable! have both been accepted with unofficial support for iOS 5..... the update log on iTunes page has since changed

original details can be found here: http://www.cultofmac.com/apple-already-approving-app-updates-for-ios-5-—-launch-next-month/107598

There is a difference between being compatible with iOS 5 and having features that require iOS 5. I am the developer of an app that does not run at all on iOS 5 at the moment. However, I can fix the problem and make it work on (a.k.a. be compatible with) iOS 5 without ever touching the iOS 5 SDK. I can submit that update today. The thing I can't do is submit an update that uses an API that is only found in iOS 5. These apps that have updated for compatibility with iOS 5 are doing the former: fixing issues with running on iOS 5 using the iOS 4 SDK.
