has anyone gotten an error message while installing iOS 5 to your iPhone 4?

Works fine on my 3GS. No Siri or location-based text reminders, and I can't seem to hide the Newsstand. Other than that, seems nice. Notification Center is interesting.

Most of the worry is why the OTA doesn't say up to date. They want someone who did the public release to try it and post if it says up to date or error.

I've just finished the public release and I can confirm even the public release gives an error so don't worry about your GM.

I had the same issue (4.3.5 showing as the latest update), but once I proceeded with the update, it started to download iOS 5.

this is exac the same build as GM release.

Just checked the iOS 5 public release I'm restoring to: 774.4mb.

Just checked the iOS 5 GM I was previously running: 812mb.

So, something is obviously giving somewhere. Probably late optimisation.

I know its the same but on my gm version news stand and location reminders don't work and I'm getting a few crashes

Same here, I should have deleted all the apps I don't use, the App restore is taking an eternity. The download was a cake-walk.

where does iTunes store the backup of your iPhone data? i checked /library/itunes/mobilebackup and its empty.. i wanna restore my iPhone 4 from the 5.0 ipsw i just downloaded but i want a copy of my backup incase something goes wrong.. i was running iOS 5 b7..

My 32 GB iPad 2 on AT&T started the whole update process at about 1:05 and is still going. Restoring apps now. Apple TV seems to be going quicker. iPhone 4 will go after iPad, but after 10.7.2. Then my parents are bringing all of their iOS devices over to my house, iPhones and iPads, along with their computer, so I can update them all tonight. This is going to be a long day...

Yep.

Reset my iMac and it fixed the error and is now restoring

So where is iMessage?

It's built into the normal messages app. If your friend also has iOS 5, it will use that instead. Notice the change in color. iMessage = blue, normal SMS/MMS = green. It's incredibly fast, almost instant! You can also see if someone else is typing. It's brilliant!
