Downloading now... :)

Took a few presses in iTunes to get it to start the update process however, at first it kept seeing 4.3.5 as up to date.

So keep trying peeps.

I'm getting the same message.

What do you mean a "few presses in iTunes"???

I've tried quitting iTunes and reopening it over and over again and I still get 4.3.5??

I can't get it to show iOS 5 dammit...

Been using this a week now, and not greatly impressed.

Notifications centre is ok, but you have to fetch it, and apps like NewsStand annoy me.

This is where RIM have got it right, have a screen that you can use to have your notifications on it all the time, and allow apps to be hidden, all of them.

I don't want a cluttered screen thanks

I have iPhone 5 GM release
I don't need to redownload this version right? (Clicking "Check update" says I have the most up to date version)

Thanks for the answer!!!

ahh
but my jailbreak iPad 2 needs to upgrade now hahaha

Heads up: I restored my iPhone 5 from iOS5 GM to the public version released today. Software Update has the same 'Unable to Check for Update' message as with GM.

Restore from iCloud works like a charm though... ;-)

how can i change from gm to the version released today?
just restore or download the iOS 5 file from elsewhere and alt click update?

UGH, I came home to update hoping this would be quick, and now it's taking forever. Honestly I would have waited, had I known.

I had the same issue (4.3.5 showing as the latest update), but once I proceeded with the update, it started to download iOS 5.

I cancelled my update 250mb by accident (don't try and pause this download) in and it said 90 minutes remaining.
Now it is downloading is 300kbps and said 40 minutes remaining which is much more acceptable...
Mind you my line is capable of 35Mbps download or 4.5mb a second...

Just downloaded in about 7 minutes here in NC, avg'd around 15Mbit/s. Wonder if proximity to the new data center has anything to do with it, restoring now.

anyone have any idea what this means?

using a new verizon iphone 4

took about 20 minutes to download the software i tried clicking UPDATE button in itunes twice (itunes is fully updated) and nothing seems to be working

soo, can someone please explain this to me,, i am "fairly new" to all this beta stuff with apple, i have installed the iOS 5 GM seed.. just installed the latest iTunes over the beta 5 and its still telling me that my iOS is the latest. from what i understand the GM seed is the last beta before the actual iOS release, if so would anyone know why i can't install the iOS 5 non beta?

Absolutely ridiculous. iOS 5 for my iPhone 4 has failed twice, both times some after passing 500MB. Now it wants to take a whole hour to download. And still a few more hours until 10.7.2 is done. I think Microsoft got it right dreading updates. At least then you don't have everyone rushing to download it at the same time.

Either one will work, even though there's no real need to do this as they appear to be the same version.
