that stops the bug yes but i like auto brightness the way it used to be. its a handy feature.

I turned off auto brightness on my iPad 3 but in beta 1 it would still keep randomly ramp it up to maximum brightness or almost maximum. I'd move it back to down to a bit below half way and then it would get super bright all by itself again and so on..

heres one

i have itunes match. since ios 6, my cloud icon to download a song has vanished. i know people are saying you can stream and it stores the song on the device for a little while. there seems to be no way of just downloading a song onto my device to stay downloaded.

my problem is, in the US where 3g is widespread, here in the UK 3g blackspots are more common than london buses so to stream is far from favourable for me on the train when i listen to music most.

is there a way for me to tell if my song is just streaming or downloading?

only the download all button brings the circular download progress icon next to the song where the cloud icon used to be.

what he said about how its buggy. would just choose to go maximum or minimum brightness when not appropriate

Mine used to kind of do the opposite sometimes in Beta 1. I would have the setting on a little bit above half and then auto-brightness. And sometimes when I would unlock the phone in full daylight the screen would be on the lowest brightness and remain there for a full minute or two before suddenly going back to normal. Downloading Beta 2 now to see if it fixed this for me.

I don't know if it has been mention but when you go to your App Store and click on the screen image it goes full screen never notice it before lol

Maps now show in kilometres for users that use metric (for me, Australia).
Also, the App Store now lets you update apps that aren't from the account logged in on the device. It wouldn't allow me to do so on beta 1.

On autobrightness.

It's not a bug. It's meant as making it more insightful...

Situation; you're sitting in your living room with moderate lighting, u set it at 40%. The iPhone sees when u go outside it's this amount brighter and ups it so much %.

The slider now just shows u where it's at. It's kinda weird at first but don't pay attention to it.

You think that when you set it half way and then u go outside it's brightness is still halfway? This was never the case ;-)

I doubt that. It's just about wearing a moral high hat. I really think the only reason Apple makes it difficult to install these betas, if you can call it that, is so that people can't later complain when things don't work. They will just say, "we told you not to install it".

Bingo. Just compare the iOS and Mac OS purchasing/installation process to Windows. Have you tried to buy a Pro or better version of Windows lately, just so you can connect it to a Domain? Hundreds of dollars. Apple doesn't even use registration keys. Do they require you to now download from App Store? Yes, but even that can be circumvented easily. iOS? Free upgrade. Mac OS? $20. Apple isn't worried about their software to any degree close to Microsoft. The user experience is everything, and letting the average user download the OS before it's ready is a recipe for complaint and malcontent.

the app icons seem to be bigger in beta 2 when doing an update.

Still clicking "more" to see the changes when updating, takes you to the app's screen, instead of just unfolding the changes

Two questions regarding Facebook contacts.

1. I get at lot of pixelated images for the iCloud-version of my contact from fb but then the same image but proper for the Facebook-version. It this just me? Looks ugly when it picks the bad one as default.

2. Is there a way to merge Facebook contacts with iCloud contacts? Some of them have slightly different names and shows up as two entries (even after changing the names).

BTW, no birthday dupes anymore in calendar! Yay :)
Edit: And the UI is A LOT smoother overall on my 4! The first beta was nearly unusable...

Yes, edit the device version of the Contact and use the "Link Contact..." button at the bottom. It's supposed to do this automatically, but sometimes fails and needs some help.

Oh wow that color matching status bar is awful. I hope it's removed at some point if not in this update.

I think the status bar is kind of cool, actually. Maybe they'll add a setting to turn it off.

What is awful is the new maps app. Sure, the 3D satellite view is a nice gimmick, but the quality of the actual maps is really poor. OK, Apple's maps are probably decent for driving use, but for foot navigation in Europe they are literally years behind Google's in quality and coverage. There is just so much important stuff missing and broken I don't know where to begin. London looks like a barren wasteland.

Unless there are massive improvements, I think a lot of people are going to be really disappointed with iOS 6 maps when it ships.

Beta. They'll be fine in the release. Sheesh.

Man, there are a LOT of developers on this forum!

Sure are! Complaining about how things are broken and don't work well and such.

Developers, indeed...

being in the uk, i'm counting on a google maps app lol

Traffic seems non-existent in comparison to the Google traffic. Very disappointing.

Used Apple maps in anger for the first time when I got stuck in Guildford at rush hour trying to get through the A3....result.....trying to drive the small roads is impossible with it.... I ended up using the wires 4S with Google Maps to much greater success

i'd like to point out

i paid for a developer account, i would even like to find the time to have a crack at app creation but until then, i couldn't give a flying ******* about whether people download ios betas illegally, immorally or without paying a cent.

i also couldn't give a sh** if people complain about the bugs because i do it in the hope i may find a solution. sure some bugs are unfixable but i only genuinely complain and enquire about problems i think could be solvable or at the very least made bearable.

i mean its £60/$100 for ******* sake, it's not a mortgage is it? stop being so pissy and just enjoy apple's development through their heyday like the rest of us. There is no high horse when it comes to ownership of a developer account because after all, it is just a developer account. Using sarcasm to illustrate a wrong-doing with non developer's makes you sound like a tit lets be honest.

uk maps and siri locations need HUGE improvements and it's clear we don't get favoured at all with apple. i mean we have ONE major major city. how come that isnt in 3D?

i found the gps to work very well, some errors here and there but overall i was impressed. the lack of high res satellite view is shocking but i do for once feel that will be sorted (it has to be)

OMG, people have been saying 'Safari feels snappier!' after every single new release of the OS.

Eventually, it will be so snappy that just hovering your finger over the icon will open the last webpage you were on.

kind of a running joke....

Seriously tho I think about the webpage I want and it opens

The matching status bar is not showing for several of my apps. It's only changing for Maps, Settings, Messages. Anyone else having this bug?

OTA update stuck on "preparing update." I guess a restore to the new build is in my future :(

It's taking mine update forever to download. It says "Preparing Update" and it's about 1/4 left.

Should I restart the iPhone?
