Since the GM should be 100% identical to the public version, I don't think so. I'll find out in an hour or so. In the worst case I brick my phone for 7 days.![]()
Are you downloading from dev-servers? I am and it's super-slow!

I think it's pretty ridiculous that they support iPhone 3GS, but not the original iPad. They were still selling the original iPad about a year and a half ago. They still have original iPads that under warranty.
I guess when you buy an Apple product now, you can expect to be dumped from software support before your device is even old?
Do you have to sync with itunes to get your music/podcasts etc or does it wipe them?
any major differences between the last beta and the GM?

Can you restore from a iCloud back up?
I've heard something that they have removed the requirement to have a registred UDID, but I'm not sure. Maybe it was too much hassle.
Does my memory severe me well? I thought you do not need to have a developer-registered iDevice to install a GM, since it's identical to the public release.
Anyone know?
Could someone at least post the MD5 values for the GMs from Apple so that people who are torrenting them can be sure they're getting the real deal?

Straight from Apple dev.
This is iphone 4 (gsm) version.
Thank you. How about ipad 3 gsm and iphone 4s md5's?![]()
Did not dl those since I have the iPhone 4. Sorry!
Obviously you can install iOS 6 on the 3GS, just like you could iOS 4 on 3G. My question is if its performance is acceptable, or so horrible that it's better to stay with iOS 5?I would suggest reading the release. It lists all the products it will work with.
I don't really agree. A phone gets pretty beat up in 2 years. An iPad is likely to last much longer, plus it's more expensive. I'm really more concerned with the passage of time than the number of updates. At this rate, in a year it will be completely obsolete and with almost no updated app support.
What this really means, is that Apple expects us to upgrade our hardware, even expensive hardware, very frequently. It is also statement about how poor the hardware is that they put in the original.
