Having iOS6 be good to go with a 3GS phone and not the first-gen iPad is a pretty serious FU from apple.

For a 500 dollar plus device to go from introduction to "ready for the landfill" in less than a 1000 days is pretty sad.

Note: they still sell the 3GS. The original iPad hasn't been sold by Apple in more than a year and a half. That is the difference.

It still does everything it has since release.

If an OS update not appearing on a device means "time for the landfill", then the landfills must be overflowing with Android devices. :D

They are all on i-m-z-d-l - I'm downloading a torrent link right now. I'm not a dev.. so I hope I don't brick my phone.

Without a dev acc?

Yes. YMMV, it's risky and in violation of Apple's wishes (and probably terms). You could brick your phone. This is unlikely, but if it happens, you'll be hosed until iOS6 is publicly released. I'm doing it anyway. :)

yeah I used a torrent also but it was very fast....The first few mins were slow but it got alot faster .I got 3.4MB sec download speed.....

That is not the md5 for my 4S iOS6 download. I have e145b74b35bf789f82641f987d93e876 and another member has confirmed this is correct for the 4S.

I downloaded two versions. Via Torrent (same MD5 as yours) and the other one via a link from this twitter guy (uhelios). Don't know which one is more trustworthy..

Mine came from the same site I used last year, the one banned at MacRumors. I don't trust them as much as I trust Apple, but I think e145b74b35bf789f82641f987d93e876 for the 4S is a safish bet. My restore is complete; rebooting one last time...

Interestingly my iPad 2 GSM sort of "locked up" at the end of the "Update" cycle and I had to restore it and reload from iCloud, everything seems to be OK now luckily.

Doing iPhone 4S now
