I did restore from a backup as I have been doing since the original iPhone. I know that's sometimes not recommended for optimal performance. I was going to give it more time before trying a fresh install. I'm optimistic that Apple will fix some battery life issues. I've had similar issues with a 4S that was setup as new a week before iOS 7 came out.
I have lots of apps, and don't really do anything out of the ordinary (Pandora, Music, Facebook, Instagram, some games, etc.)

I have been trying to do better with closing apps. That used to never be required, but it seems to help more now. Last couple nights my phone has died on me I haven't closed all my apps, so that could be the culprit as well. We will see how things go with 7.0.3.

Nevermind, I tried a restore as a new phone and it didn't change nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Battery drain still here.
Now I'm gonna check if 7.0.3 is better ....

We aren't all having battery issues. Folks need to do a little work and find out what app or process is causing it (assuming it's not something normal like spotty coverage, etc.).

Dude I tried everything, a complete restore as new phone also.
I think is related to how iOS 7 manage the network search compared to iOS 6.

Complete clean out would be a good start! Bet users with 100's of apps are having the battery issue

As I already said, NO.
my battery sucks also with nothing installed.
With iOS 6 was just fine.

I think you have a hardware fault myself and that it has made itself known when you upgraded to iOS 7. The behaviour you are describing is not normal at all.

Interesting I had a similar experience but figured it was on my end. I used the itunes client on windows to do the update. It did the backup and then restarted the phone I kept hearing the disconnect/reconnect tones then a message popped up saying the phone was in recovery mode. I had to do a restore and then restored backup and now in the process of copying music back over (I convert them all to 128aac so it takes a couple hours).

The reason I didn't think it was any issue was I've had that happen before where the phone keeps connecting and disconnecting. Think it's some issue with the usb ports switching to high power mode to charge it. Usually it only happens when I have a few things charging off the usb ports. I disconnected all those before the update and it still did that.

I had originally update the phone from wifi and NOT plugged into my mac. Then it locked me out.

Keychain doesn't seem to work in apps, Youtube for example. On my Mac I let keychain suggest a password for me to use on Youtube it logs me in fine on Safari but trying to log into the Youtube app it doesn't remember my password.

My iPhone 5 was fine with iOS 6. Around 7 hrs of usage time.
Upgraded to iOS 7, usage time suddenly drop to 4-5 hrs, with same usage pattern.

I tried THE SAME PHONE in another town with a stronger signal strength, I've got the same 7 hrs usage time with iOS 7.

Definitely NOT an hardware issue.
iOS 7 is different from iOS 6 when signal strength is worse.

when i download new versions, it all was seems to say 1.something GB to download? its like it downloads the whole ios download. Is there some setting i need to change? Im downloading on a Mac.

The window transitions are a lot faster now, which is very nice. Seems a little faster overall.

ah.. so iCloud key chain must also be in Mavericks then.

I'll stick with LastPass as its more secure....

Finally, for all those dizziness, Apple got a solution.. Under General >Accessibility, Turn on "Reduce motion", this is the first thing i did after upgrade.

no more constant zooming in/out. instead just a gentle fade.... :)
Must better.

I had trouble upgrading, since iOS on both iPhone and iPad said "7.0.2 was up-to-date".

Downloading from iTunes, I decided to cancel when i found it got pushed through. downloading on device was only 52 MB.. :) sleek.

Only issues, was it reset Bluetooth to "off" and Limit ad tracking to "off".. after from that, all went well.

I don't know if I should be ruining this for all animation haters out there but the reduced motion fade effect still locks the UI about the same time as the zoom animation does. So you can't actually interact quicker in the UI.

So see my other post regarding reset all settings , however its ok to charge your device anytime you want to. Twice a day is fine or anytime you are near an outlet or USB port and feel like it. The once a day rule and wait til its dead went away with the NI-CAD batteries.
It is not that I am against charging it twice a day, but I don't feel I should need to charge it when I am not even using it. Why can't my phone sit idle when I am not using it for 8 hours? I shouldn't need to charge it just so it can be on standby for a little while. What if I wasn't near an outlet for a day? My phone is dying even if I am not using it, and I am not getting near the 200+ hours of standby time.
I wasn't trying to get in a big battery discussion. I was just saying I hope this update makes things better. I guess I should have said I hope this update makes the battery worse.

Does anyone know if this update activates translucency/blurring in the Control Centre and Notification Centre?

It seems a little quicker at least. Perhaps not instant or as quick as it can be, but still somewhat quicker than when animations are not reduced/off.

For a particular device (given that most have that already, unless the increase contrast accessibility option is enabled in settings)?

Have you tried reduced motion off in 7.0.3? I feel the zoom animations are a lite bit quicker now and you can interact earlier than before.

Specifically, I'm referring to the iPad 3 and 2; 7.0 and 7.0.2 for these had the same graphical effects as the iPhone 4.

Reduce Motion

This sorta sucks for those people who just wanted to disable parallax but keep the other animations. On my phone (64GB 5s) parallax was really ****** for some reason. It was often laggy and would cause a big skip at the end of the home screen animation. So I turned it off and have been happy since. But now, if I update to 7.0.3, I'll lose all the other animations as well. I actually like the zooms (though I think they are a bit too long), but don't want parallax enabled.

Seems like Apple overcorrected here. Or maybe they just need to give Parallax its own toggle.

Or make it not suck.

Exactly. And now, to make matters worse, you have to choose between an ugly fade in and out with no parallax and a brief lockout of ui function or an attractive, but slightly even longer lockout animation with parallax. At this point id rather go back to the slow animation with the ability to turn off parallax independently. Oh well, maybe I'll get used to the parallax feature. I have always had it off thinking it couldn't have helped the battery

We aren't all having all of the issues that Apple has mentioned. That's not to say we can't hope that Apple makes some gains with a problem that many of us have experienced.

Very true. With all the diagnostic information flowing back to Apple I hope they see trends and make adjustments. My crankiness are with the people who are sit back and complain that Apple needs to fix iOS 7 when it's most likely not an iOS 5 or 6 or 7 problem. Not directed at any one person here. :)

Most everyone has a battery problem at some time or another. If someone has a battery that only lasts 90 minutes and they keep their phone like that for a couple of years then that's a different issue. :D

I have just to see the difference again. They did get a bit smoother/better in a sense, but they are still not as snappy to me as the fading is when they are off.

Keypad Text

Finally - Bold text in the keypad! WooHoo!

Ok, so I get excited easily.

I hate those stick-thin fonts so anywhere they can make stuff bold I'm happy.
