compare, its flat just an example but its flat. you can say theres an illusion of depth but its only fooling some people.

you can like flat but its flat, they've done everything to reduce depth, and minimize shadows unless absolutely needed like overlays. sure you can tell its overlaid but the rest is flat

Every time I see an ios 6 picture I realize just how much better ios 7 actually looks, regardless of bugs

Agreed, iOS7 just looks way better. As for the Mac I think it's a lot more 'timeless' and doesn't require such a radical change, its design for the most part is great, but iOS7 really does make a better visual difference.

Like I said again. I'm a registered Dev with two registered iOS devices on my developers account. If money is tight for non developers like I said there is other alternatives and i'm not gonna share that. If non developers want to know Google is there friend and if your curious Google it yourself but I rest my case

Yes..and these "other alternatives" register your device with an associated developers account. Therefore registering your device with Apple. Proving the other guys' point..

I like iOS 7, but when I see stock iOS 6 screen it makes me want to get that theme* back and use it with iOS 7's awesome features :)

* - to be more precise, icons, status bar, only the home screen stuff, not applications' UI or lock screen.

Every time I see an iOS 6 picture, I think - This is what the interface on my devices looked like when they used to never crash all the damn time.

And again a device still needs to be registered with Apple's dev program, as yourself point out, no way around that requirement since beta 2.

This has been resolved in beta 4. Overall beta 4 has a final feeling to it. I think we will soon see a public release of ios 7.1
Might be a bit early to say for sure. But hopefully we are close.

In the earlier days of iOS people said the same things about the pre-iOS 7 design. The only constant is that things change.

Thank you. So many armchair design "experts" seem to think they know what "flat" design is. Removal of texture and ornamentation does not make something "flat." iOS 7 has more depth than ever, and the layering effect as you mentioned is a perfect example. As well as the parallax effect (which simulates depth), and even apps like Notes/Reminders which still have the letterpressed text effect (improved from iOS 6's).

I just don't understand how some people can insist on "flat" when iOS 7's blurring and layering effect is so in-your-face. That is the polar OPPOSITE of "flat," like Metro's visual style. Switches and borders still have very subtle shadows in iOS 7, just not extreme like in iOS 6.

Then again, people who like to comment on design usually have a fairly limited understanding of it.
That's because before iOS 7 came out every rumor about claimed it was going to be "flat". Remember 9to5Mac's "black, white and flat all over" headline? It just stuck. Of course Applr has never used the term "flat" when talking about iOS 7, and all the things you mention certainly couldn't be considered flat.

Another discovery:

Text messages make your iPhone do a single subtle vibration when you're already in Messages.app, rather than the usual strong two-tone vibration. Not sure if this was added before beta 4 though since I didn't test the others.

So, just 'bzz" instead of "BZZZZ BZZZZ".

You still get the usual vibration when your phone is locked though.

That was there in the previous betas.

Not Surprised...

Looks like Apple is still working hard on iOS 7. Makes me wonder what's going to be in iOS 8. Somehow I don't think it's going to be packed with new and incredible features.

What I mean't by alternatives was the old way of doing it then paying the $99. If money is tight you can also register your uuid for cheap if you use the right resources. Ive been registered for 3 years as a developer and before a developer the alternative is what I use to use. I did not know Apple block doing this in beta 2 till now as it's been 3 years and a loyal employee. So yeah your correct but if money is tight they still can use other alternatives to get it for cheap by paying legit resources to register their uuids.

iOS 7.1 is codenamed Sochi, as in the Winter Olympics, maybe that's a hint to a release time?

Where do you get that? I've never once heard iOS 7.1 being code named Sochi.

Isn't there a security risk involved with that in which the developer would be able to install a configuration profile onto the registered devices? I might be confusing this with something else.

Noticed Something

I could be wrong, but it looks like the Location Services icon is at the top of the screen full time now. Thought it used to be that way before, if it was, it's back.

That would be associated with an app or a system service. You should look through location settings and see where it's coming from (and change it if needed/desired).

Apple never said iOS was flat. Removing skeuomorphism does not make something flat.

Apple doesn't have to say flat. I used my own two eyes. If you think that iOS 7 is not flat then you are looking at iOS 6 my friend.

Removing skeuomorphism does not make something flat. True. Making everything flat, that makes something flat.

I understand that. But the icon itself hasn't been on the top, full time, for a long time. Not just on my devices, but in general.

It still isnt. Unless some app is using it. I suspect maybe you have the Google app on there with google now. That will make the location icon stay on all the time or most of the time. Either way some app most likely is causing it.
