Just a quick question...

If I'm going from 7.0.6>7.1 (via iTunes), will it need to go through the activation process again? I ask because I had issues with the beta doing this, even though I'm a registered developer. It kept prompting to activate (like it's setting up the phone for the first time). I am trying to 'Update' and not 'Restore'.

Thank you!

They had to wait until I left the house. Grr. I pay for the data. It should be MY choice to download or not!

No, it's not your choice. You share the network with other customers. The reason they don't allow large downloads is because everyone would constantly be downloading huge files and it'd bring the network to a crawl. You don't own the data network; everyone does.

My iPad took 3 min to prepare the update and my phone took about 12 min. Maybe because my iPad was still running beta 5.

I'm really surprised we're able to OTA to 7.1 from beta 5. I don't think apple has ever let us do that before.
Yeah, something new it seems, and probably why the full 1.4 GB update has to be downloaded.

iPad mini 1st Gen, buttery smooth. Since 7.1 doesn't require setup assistant to run after updating, I'm going to try updating my spare Verizon iPhone 4.

Thank you!
No activation or any welcome screens came up here, just went directly to my lock screen when it finished.

gotofail.com test passes, so the SSL bug has been fixed (just wanted to make sure).

What is Apple's issue with having a quick compose/reply feature? I don't understand that

No, you won't need to activate again.

The amount of space it needs is stupid ! It is a 1.2GB download but says I need 4.5GB free space on my phone ! At this rate I won't have anything on the phone..

Just temporarily. It needs to unpack the installation files. The file you download is compressed.

Exciting! Now just need to wait for it to be available via iTunes...I'd rather do a clean install.

how do you perform a clean install? i'm downloading the update now in iTunes. I selected "download only" not "download and install"

do i need to import my pics to iphoto before the clean install? i backed up the phone just a min ago
