disaster update

what a total farce of an update. What the hell happened to load balancing...?
If you don't have the resource to delivery an update....don't let it fecking start for a device.....CAC ...it's not like you can't afford the gear Apple....

It doesn't matter if you have the .ipsw file. You can only restore to firmware that Apple is currently signing. In a few hours, a few days max, Apple will stop signing iOS 6 and you won't be able to install it, even if you have the .ipsw file.

Absolutely, positively untrue. If you have the originally downloaded firmware you can restore to it on a device that supports it.

Was downloading on phone for 30 minutes, about halfway done, when it crapped out with an error. Started it up again and download started from beginning. Guess I'll find something else to do while you all fight for the bandwidths.

That's why i do it via iTunes. Yeah i have to wait an extra couple of hours for it to hit but if it slows down it doesn't crap out and make me start over (generally).

plus if it borks my devices an itunes restore is a lot faster than icloud on release day. so i do both, hit update and see what happens. I'll even restore my stuff just to clean the slate. why not. it's maybe 5 more minutes of waiting

I guess your individual mileage may vary. Updated 2 iPhones and a slew of iPads here at the office and all went swimmingly.

Last Apple TV updates in June. No new update available to it as of now. They don't update Apple TV at the same time as iOS, so it may still come today later.

Mine finally downloaded and 'prepared' on my iP5, but during the verification process it says "Software Update Unavailable"

...anyone else run into this?

False. If you have a device which is eligible for iOS 7, Apple stops signing iOS 6. Go ahead, try it in a few days - let me know how it works. It's the same reason if you are on a 4S or 5 you couldn't install iOS 6.1.3 or earlier, only 6.1.4 as it was the most recent firmware.

Tell that to all the people that want to jailbreak their phones but they're on too new of an iOS version.

Agreed....it's so much better how Android balances the load by having most manufacturer's phones/tablets/etc. not easily upgradeable.

Current update progress in London, UK

After a couple of false starts, my current download status in London, UK is:

iPhone - 13 hours remaining
iPad - 17 hours remaining

Via iTunes - 43 hours remaining.

and to think I got to 6 minutes remaining before it crapped out earlier. I'm with Virgin Media on a 30 Mb DSL line.

No iOS7 for me today (this week) I think ;-(

Go outside. Get some air.

Well I remember reverting back to iOS 5 when iOS 6 first came out. I have an iPhone 4.
