It has been running for the last half hour on my 4S. Good so far, almost too bright is my first feeling. Might be able to adjust to that after a while. ... Happy so far.
The overall slower experience doesn't merit a good job, but I like the design enough where I can put up with it until an update comes out.
How do you get the weather to show up in the dropdown menu?? I don't even have the option for it.
Where are the display settings now? Like how long I want before the phone turns the screen off by itself?
Also, the two things I am not a fan of so far:
1) When you have music playing, and it automatically shows the music playing with a huge pause button/slider. I feel that it will make it prone much more to accidental hits.
2) Instead of sliding a bar, you can slide anywhere and unlock the phone... I liked having a small space to slide, so you don't accidentally unlock the phone...
really good point about the reduction of complexity. It's like they have removed a layer of visual context that was so important to keep the eyes comfortable. You shouldn't be surprised. Ive is a great industrial designer but apparently does not understand the underpinnings of UI design at all.
He does not get it. This is change for change's sake.
Using the marketing team to design the icons was the warning bell. We were told the designs would get better, they didn't. They are just bad. The reduction in complexity makes everything take longer to perceive. As more and more apps update, it will be harder and harder to find what you are looking for at a glance. You are literally going to have to read everything.
Even worse is now all developers will be nudged into this design language and all the apps will suffer as well.
How is the native Mail app working out for those who downloaded iOS 7? How is the POP3 mail working out compared to IMAP?
Really curious.
Couple of things:
-Instead of "having to read everything" to find what you're looking for. This is this cool feature called "spotlight" that you can literally access from any home screen.
BTW, guaranteed you get used to it and end up liking it before long.
And that is better than all the errors people are getting now? They don't have to do a month long rollout but the way it works now is a massive failure.

Just say OK....back on out in settings, then click Software Update again and Install....you shouldn't have to re-download the file. I got the same message on my phone and that's what worked for me.
TIP:
If you're downloading, NO-ONE CARES
