It has been running for the last half hour on my 4S. Good so far, almost too bright is my first feeling. Might be able to adjust to that after a while. ... Happy so far. :)

Two at once?

My iPhone 4s has been downloading for a while. My iPad 4 breezed through the download but is stuck at the verification part of the install. Is it because I can't do both at the same time or just Apple servers failing?

Thanks.

ios7

Having read all the "i puke" comments and such made me shrug a bit. I to remember that feeling for a few days, maybe a week.

However,

iOS7 grows pretty quick on you. I actually don't think many of the haters are gonna hate in a few weeks.

Cheers!

Any ideas on how to update from beta 6 to the official release?

iTunes it's saying the phone it's up to date, and restore won't download iOS 7 cause it says requested build can't be found.

OTA says the phone it's up to date too.

How do you get the weather to show up in the dropdown menu?? I don't even have the option for it.

Where are the display settings now? Like how long I want before the phone turns the screen off by itself?

Also, the two things I am not a fan of so far:

1) When you have music playing, and it automatically shows the music playing with a huge pause button/slider. I feel that it will make it prone much more to accidental hits.

2) Instead of sliding a bar, you can slide anywhere and unlock the phone... I liked having a small space to slide, so you don't accidentally unlock the phone...

Underneath the time, where it says the current temperature.. tap that text to open weather.

You shouldn't be surprised. Ive is a great industrial designer but apparently does not understand the underpinnings of UI design at all.
He does not get it. This is change for change's sake.

Using the marketing team to design the icons was the warning bell. We were told the designs would get better, they didn't. They are just bad. The reduction in complexity makes everything take longer to perceive. As more and more apps update, it will be harder and harder to find what you are looking for at a glance. You are literally going to have to read everything.

Even worse is now all developers will be nudged into this design language and all the apps will suffer as well.
really good point about the reduction of complexity. It's like they have removed a layer of visual context that was so important to keep the eyes comfortable.

Finally managed to download and now I'm stuck :(

Couple of things:

-Instead of "having to read everything" to find what you're looking for. This is this cool feature called "spotlight" that you can literally access from any home screen.

Let me clarify what I meant. I didn't mean it in terms of search.

With such a light design vernacular, there is nothing else to give you visual clues. You have to stop and read everything. It's all whitespace. I walk around with iOS6 and I can see stuff out of the corner of my eye and know what I am pressing. If everything is just text, and then all the apps I use are updated to be just text on white, then I am going to have to stop and read everything. I am concerned that no one has actually gotten out of a chair and used this OS.

BTW, guaranteed you get used to it and end up liking it before long.

I really hope you are right.
But I just bought an iPhone 5 in the last few weeks to make sure I would not have to use iOS 7 in the near future.

And that is better than all the errors people are getting now? They don't have to do a month long rollout but the way it works now is a massive failure.

In a way Apple does phase this anyway. The people clamoring for it now are the techies and early adopters who care about this. Yes, they are overloading the system but that is really a testament to the popularity of iOS and anyone trying to update right now should know to expect this.

I don't think Apple has pinged everyone's phones with the "update now" icon badge notification, have they? So they really haven't even told the general public that this is out there. For someone to update now, they have to seek out the update. I think it takes several days for the average user to get the prompt to update. And yea, the seeming scarcity of the update generates the same excitement as standing in line at the Apple store for the new hardware...people are here crowing about how they got it and other fans are complaining they are still waiting....it all generates buzz.

So in fact they really are balancing as best as possible given the number of devices that simultaneously become eligable for upgrades and the number of people that own them.

Maybe I'm happier about it since both my iPad mini and my iPhone 5 updated successfully over my work wifi connection! :D It was strange that my iPad downloaded it in minutes and my phone took a couple of hours even though I started both simultaneously on the same wifi connection. Despite my great feeling of accomplishment, it really is just a software update and my phone is still a phone and my iPad is still an iPad....can't say it's been life changing yet!

......

Yea where's the weather app? I see the text description of weather in notification center, but where is the actual app? Why dont they use visual graphics to show todays weather?

Been trying to 'activate' my iP5 for the past hour. UGH!

Anyone else getting the same issue with wanting to activate?

Man, it seems like 4s owners are reporting some performance hits.

I can deal with the aesthetics issue(s) looks are skin deep yada yada.
But taking a performance hit just plain stinks.

Anyone have a upgraded 4s that is singing after upgrade?

Installed on my iPad 3 Love it!!!

Installed on my iPad 3 & I love it! Runs fine here! Updated all my apps & so far. It's awesome! For the kiddies out there, Im 60 & think it's great! That comment is for those that slam their elders & think were not hip! --))))

Apple has done a remarkable job! It's like I have a new iPad!

Took me 20 min to d/l about one hour after it was released!

WTG Apple! :):):)

Finally managed to download and now I'm stuck :(

Just say OK....back on out in settings, then click Software Update again and Install....you shouldn't have to re-download the file. I got the same message on my phone and that's what worked for me.

Awesome. After all these years the new format a great upgrade for me. I need to sit when I get home and check it all out!

Hope everyone else is happy, too!:)
