Reading this thread it seems to be ONLY isolated to iPhone 6 users

That is what it seems like.

Hopefully there's a fix to get it working for those with newer phones, or one that will be coming imminently. And hopefully 8.0 is still being signed and is perhaps available for those users just in case (assuming that build was even available for the newer iPhones thst already came with it).

Same here! No cellular service + touch ID is not working on my shiny new iPhone 6.

Is possible to restore 8.0 from a backup?
Also maybe you just need to reset your connection settings.
Did you try removing and reinserting the SIM card?
