Well.. that's a bit odd. My iPod got the 8.0.1 OTA update yesterday, but couldn't install. Now it doesn't see the 8.0.2 update, and still insists on installing the 8.0.1 already downloaded. Looks like I'll need to use iTunes to update when I get home.
To delete the 8.0.1 update from your device: Go to Settings -> General -> Usage -> Manage Storage from there click the update and you can delete it in the window that pops up.

OK I just updated and now my Music app is filled with U2 albums and deleted everything else. They even changed my wallpaper to a pic of Tim Cook and Bono.

Cell service and Touch ID work though.

Could see the software update over LTE, but it said "WiFi connection required for this download."

So, switched on WiFi, then it couldn't see the update. Switched back and forth several times, same thing each time.

Currently slowly downloading on Comcast internet via iTunes.

It's crazy how only 40,000 phones could have been affected. Based on all the furor over bending phones, you would think that 40,000 phones have already bent and that 500,000 phones have been affected by the 8.01 update.

Once the early adopters use it for awhile then it will merit a look. Experience from years past taught me, I don't touch anything new from Apple until I read others complaints. My 5S is working great, kept it as a spare and I'm so glad I did.

Nothing bent on the iPhone 6 plus I bought but left in the box. Having the choice of unboxing or selling it for a profit is so satisfying I'm in no rush at all. When some are suffering with deformities, I'm waiting and watching. Besides I've ordered a big ugly OTTERBOX that'll protect it.

I bet you'll find that 99.99% of Apple day-one purchasers (myself included) are so happy we bought day one. After all, the prices never really drop until the next one is out. So why miss out?

Update complete, everything appears to have survived from the quick checks I just did, so happy at 8.0.2 for now :)

Seems fine on my iPhone 6.

iPad OTA still only offers the 8.0.1 which it had already downloaded (but not installed). Attempting to install it (and being denied as expected) does not update the download option. Will give it time in hopes that this is not another stubbed toe for Apple and ends up requiring iTunes.

Resolved. A cold reboot forced a recheck, no iTunes or manual removal required - certainly reasonable, though not quite perfect-smooth.

Installed on the following all without a hitch; iPhone 5 (2 devices), iPhone 5s, iPad Air, iPad Mini R, iPad 4, iPad 3. All over the air updates.

All functioning, checked wifi, air drop, dropbox sync, iTunes, a couple games, pages, keynote and numbers everything looks good.

When my iPhone 6 plus arrives in 2 weeks i'll check on that! :D

hopefully by the time i get my iPhone 6 plus end of october or early november it will come with iOS 8.0.2 or 8.0.3. if not i will probably just do a clean install right away.

8.0.2 bend

Just installed 8.0.2 and everything is okay except my iPhone 6 Plus is now bent.
