My 6 now makes coffee! If I could just get it to do the dishes. #

Too many comedians on here. Most of us are reading threads like this to gather info on ios8 upgrade stability/bugs, having to waste time wading thru lame jokes we've read hundreds of times before is tiring.

On the 6? No lag or frames dropping when you switch between collapsing/expanding cities?

iP6 here too and not really. I see what you may be referring to as 'lag'. More like a screen redraw? I mean its not an instant switch from list to full as you can see it "draw/bounce in". Not sure if that's what you are referring to or not. And only see that going from list to detail not the other way around though.

Jerky animations when hitting the home button seems to be solved on my iPad 4. Pleased about that. I can now click a link in Safari on the first try. It use to take several tries. Thus far, 8.1.1 seems much better.

One minor problem that Apple would likely deem a non-problem but you might find really annoying:

(1) if you've paid for iTunes Match it decides to manage all your music.

I bought iTunes Match it and realized I don't want it managing my individual songs, I want to do that so I leave it off - I should cancel it but haven't.

(2) When I updated to 8.1.1 it turned iTunes Match back on (figuring I probably turned it off in oversight) it wiped out about 3000 songs on my 6+.

The only music remaining is music bought from the iTunes store (219 songs).

(3) Not really a problem, I have two huge IKEA bookcases full of CD's I've encoded and I usually swap 2000-3000 songs out every couple of weeks to switch it up to keep things from getting predictable.

To call me a music fanatic would be understating the case by a good amount.

Same here. I've just let iTunes Match expire a week ago because of too many issue. My iPhone 5C is on 8.1, my iPad Air on 7.1.2.
Has 8.1.1 fixed the playlist sub-folder mess ?
True music lovers like us have nested folders to organize their libraries. First I suspected iTunes 12, but it turns out iOS 8.x screwed up approx 100+ playlists in random order on my iPhone.

Anyone with nested playlist folders confirm/deny bug fixed or not ?

Another issue I've been having ever since 8.0 that I hope 8.1.1 has fixed:

My phone has been completely dying at 30% battery. as soon as my iPhone 5 hits 30% battery power the phone will shut off and it will not turn back on without the lightening cable being connected. It tells me the battery is completely dead, but if I plug the Lightening cable in, as soon as the phone boots back up it will tell me I still have 30% battery power. Not really sure if this is a software issue though (although this issue didn't start occurring until after I updated to 8.0), but my iPhone 5 is over two years old still working on it's original battery.

First impressions on an Ipad2

Safari seems better.

Can never tell if it is a placebo effect or not. Not grating my teeth as I was a few hours ago, so there's that. Keyboard infinitely more responsive, especially on opening safari.

Anyone with relevant feedback regarding this update, please let me know :)

My iPad Air ends up in a endless loop. It looks like iTunes does not recognise that the update was successful and does it again. The update also deleted most but not all of my books from iBooks. From the 2034 books, 16 were left and the rest had to be reloaded.

Apple needs to get their quality control ignored NOW!

Lagfest on my 5S. What's funny though is that actually tapping it quickly seems to reduce the lag, but waiting 1-2 seconds results in serious amount of frames dropping.

Just tested it on the other 5S, it's still there. :/

I really do hope they get this together and will release performance improvements for the 5, 5S and 6.

My 6 Plus absolutely flies and is ridiculously fast...not sure what else they can really do besides 3rd party applications start getting updated and faster

Amen, amen, amen.....Get so sick of trying to find facts/information among the "cute" crap.

I believe that is a known hardware issue and Apple will swap out. Even if the warranty has expired.

Likely you have an iPhone 5 and your main microphone is broken. Siri only uses the main mic, while you can still make phone calls with the other two mics listening in. Only fix is replacement phone, mic only isn't considered fixable by Apple without logic board swap.

nope wife had it on her 6 and apple replaced it the new one did it too. not using airplay and only bluetooth to stream seems to stop it from happening. She may have had it on her 5c but I will ask her and see. we thought it was caused by a voiceover bug but apparently not. but apple had not head of it when she called about it.

Without humor the world would be a boring place!

Sounds like you have a bad battery. Has nothing to do with the OS. Call Apple Support and let them run diagnostics via text message and get it replaced.

Updated

I'm wondering the same. I'm holding off because I'm absolutely loving my battery life (just plugged it in for the first time since Friday), and don't want to prematurely install this and give that up.

Can anyone report how this affects battery life, if at all?

I did the update on my 6 plus and my battery is doing fine still getting about 7 hours usage and 2 days of standby

That's strange.

I actually made a thread about it and others experience the same thing, even users who have an iPhone 6. This is really strange though. I have two 5S's where it lags, different accounts and different users. Did this update make the difference for the two of you or have you not experienced this at all?

Sbailey, I don't really know how else to explain it other than the way I did. For instance, my iPhone 5 is running buttery smooth in the weather app on 7.1.2, but the 5S is dropping frames by collapsing/expanding (list/detailed).

Bahroo, funnily enough I don't have any problems with the third party apps I use. They're all running really well and most of them (if not all) are updated for iOS 8.

Airplay bug fixed in 8.1.1.

8.1.1 finally fixed the Airplay issues I was having with my Airplay speaker. With iOS 8.0 and every release in between when I would select my Airplay speaker from my iPhone 5s (or iPad Air 2 for that matter) after a few seconds the Airplay menu would reset and select the iPhone and deselect whatever music I was playing. I would have to reselect my Airplay speaker and select the music again and eventually it would work. Now it works the first time just as it did before iOS 8.0.

Also there is no longer a delay when jumping between songs in the music player as there was with 8.1. With 8.1 it seems it would take a few seconds before the song would play.

UPDATE: Scratch that. The issue still happens. It worked for a while but when I tried to send audio to my airplay speaker it happened again. :-(

Just downloaded and installed ios 8.1.1 on my ipad 2. The ipad is booting faster. Performance has also improved. My advice to everyone-whenever you install a new new update let it settle down for a few hours, let the ipad/iphone adapt to it and you will see the real difference.

Adapt to it?

Anymore brave iPhone 4S users who have updated can share their thoughts?
So far two people say it got much better and one said he didn't see any difference...anyone else care to chime in? :)

I got my iPhone 4S with 7.1 and only updated to 7.1.2, never complained about speed whatsoever (I came from a sluggish Android), but even before I had an iPhone I read this section of the forums and I remember iPhone 4 users complaining about iOS7 so I've stayed back from updating my 4S to iOS8 so far.

The whole system responses much faster than 8.0 and I guess as a result the battery life will be improved too. A great update! And guess what? Whatsapp is updated for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus finally!

Cant say 100% if 8.1.1 changed it or not as I typically just swipe right to see the different cities. I will say that the iP6 does seem more responsive overall though than it was before though.

I am willing to bet that it is your router, not the devices.

Except for the fact that it worked just fine for weeks. I go away for the day and come back to it not work. Every other device I have works. PC, iPad3 (8.1) Roku, AppleTV. All but the iP6+. Something tells me it's not the router.

Also, I've had issues where I can't connect to public WiFi that doesn't even have a password... Starbucks, etc.

Apple is due to call in 20 minutes. I will update with their final resolution.

EDIT: New phone shipping tomorrow. Hopefully that will fix the issue.
