glad I'm not the only one as the apple "geniuses" tell me I am.
the iMessage fiasco started when I downloaded iOS 8 to my iphone 5, then I bought and returned the 6 because of this. I later switched for the 6 plus and even traded it for a new 6 plus all because Apple said they've never heard of iMessage issues.

#vindicated

I wouldn't feel too vindicated. The post you quoted had to do with a brief iMessage slow down that started today shortly before the update release.

Multitasking gestures are still randomly failing. So frikin annoying.
Experienced once after updating as well. Can't imagine Apple still hasn't noticed this bug? A simple fix to the problem is to swipe up to reveal the control center.

Messages app still very buggy. Randomly freezes on a screen but still responds to actions: if I hit where the back button is it'll slide for half a second like it's going to work and then doesn't. Very irritating as I have to quit the Messages app at least once a day.

I think just an Oxford comma would suffice, no?

Not really. That would still imply the update was solely for the older devices.
It's a poorly crafted sentence. If the bug fixes clause is meant to be for all devices then a period should follow. Or a clearer conjunction. for example, inserting "as well as" after the comma would work. If that's what Apple meant.

So one screw-up in 7 years of software uploads and you're going to hold it against them for how long?

Fyi I downloaded the update immediately and everything works fine, including iMessage.

Apparently, long term memory is not one of your strengths.

I enjoy my Macs, pads and phones very much.

No worries, lots of Apple lovers bask in the pleasure of denial.. :)

Likely you have an iPhone 5 and your main microphone is broken. Siri only uses the main mic, while you can still make phone calls with the other two mics listening in. Only fix is replacement phone, mic only isn't considered fixable by Apple without logic board swap.

No it's an iPhone 6. But I guess it would be the same problem? I'll just have to have them swap it out for me then since nothing else seems to work.

Safari still crashing when rotated to landscape - iPhone 6+

Gosh, I was really hoping the landscape rotation causing Safari to crash would be fixed with this update, but unfortunately I'm still getting it.

Is the consensus online that this is software-related at this point?

Is there any point in bringing it into the Genius Bar? If so, I should make sure I've tried a clean install first, otherwise they'll make sure I do that before they help me, is that right?

I'm not sure about iPhone 6 and which mic(s) it has or uses for Siri, but I doubt it's a software issue. If it were me I'd just take it in and have it swapped out. Please let us know if that was the problem so we know whether the iP6 has the same issue sometimes as the 5/5s - they should be able to diagnose it at the Genius Bar. I'm also curious as to whether the 6 mic is now fixable in store, or still requires a phone swap.

"Dude, Adobe CS 6 won't run on my Dell XPS desktop with a Pentium II processor. Dell really screwed me over."

well at least they have the option to go back to an older cs suit...

Just downloaded and installed ios 8.1.1 on my ipad 2. The ipad is booting faster. Performance has also improved. My advice to everyone-whenever you install a new new update let it settle down for a few hours, let the ipad/iphone adapt to it and you will see the real difference.

adapt? its a computer

I'm going to try to get it taken care of this week. I'll let you know!

I really hope this fixes the iCloud keychain. Damn thing constantly turns off on my iPhone. Under iOS 7 it was a syncing wonder. Under 8 it's been useless.

This. Gawd it's annoying

As for iPad 3.... ahhhhhhhh. Much better.

Did the update fix 3rd party keyboards?

No, none of the third party keyboard bugs have been fixed. Still impossible to write app reviews with any third party keyboard. Still frequently have issues with keyboard not showing up, especially in Spotlight.

It's so sad that people are hesitant to update these days before reading reviews because since iOS 7 updates tend to bring more bugs than fix them.
To be fair, this hasn't started with iOS 7.
Have we already forgotten the mess that was the iOS 5 update?

i see they didn't bother to fix orientation on the iPhone 6 Plus. Using the home screen with the home button on top is cool until you open one of the various stock apps and they're upside down.

Anymore brave iPhone 4S users who have updated can share their thoughts?
So far two people say it got much better and one said he didn't see any difference...anyone else care to chime in? :)

I got my iPhone 4S with 7.1 and only updated to 7.1.2, never complained about speed whatsoever (I came from a sluggish Android), but even before I had an iPhone I read this section of the forums and I remember iPhone 4 users complaining about iOS7 so I've stayed back from updating my 4S to iOS8 so far.

I've found it to have improved the general speed a great deal. I'd say its a must for 4S already on iOS8.

I have not had any problems with 8x.x before with my ipad 2, ipad air nor iPhone 6 plus. Now I install the new 8.1.1 update and I get home and start having WIFi drops at random, slowly getting worse. I lost connection on my iPhone 6 plus, and could not connect to my Apple TV (gen 2). I was watching a 2 hour TV show and my show stopped and my connection of my iphone with network stopped completely (airport extreme). I started loosing connection next on my ipad 2 with my airport. But never seemed to loose any connections with my iPad air. So I tinkered an this is what appears to be going on. There is also apple TV update not taking, and my iPad air is connecting by default with my 5 GHz band on airport extreme, and cannot connect to the 2 GHz band it was originally set on. I found that I had to also set my apple Tv and iphone 6 plus to the 5 GHz band and wow the update took instantly on apple TV, my iPhone 6 plus is working fine with my network now (on 5 GHz band only, cannot connect reliably to the old 2 GHz band now). My ipad 2 also needed to connect to the higher 5 GHz bandwidth.

So for some reason my devices (apple TV with new update, iPhone 6 plus with 8.1.1, iPad 2) all now only work on the higher GHz bandwidth of my airport. My iPad air just defaulted to it automatically with update and never lost connection but I had to make the apple TV, iPhone 6 plus and ipad 2 connect to hight 5 GHz band before i got stable (and actually a bit faster internet too)

But I have not had problems til now with any versions of 8.x.x so it is weird for it to start having these issues for me????
