Hurry up before it hits 20 pages :)

Don't worry

I have enough time as I need to free up space for the upgrade on 5 iOS devices :)

----------

Nooooo just ordered my ipad Air 2 two hours ago. Praying is still comes with 8.1 pre-loaded

Most probably it will;)

----------

Why is my iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 permitting the update if the fix is for iPad 2 and iPhone 4?

The update is for all devices for bug fixes and a hidden patch for the jailbreak, iPad 2 and iPhone 4 Get the performance improvement on top of that.

I had a weird experience updating my iPhone 5S and rMini to 8.1.1 using iTunes. It installed the update with no problem, but after install it said an update was available and updated both again. It keeps saying one is available for my 5S even though it is now on 8.1.1

I'm a crazy one, a misfit and a rebel causing trouble that is not afraid of no IOS Update!! Well...perhaps a little. Let me know how it goes, please. Thanks!!!!

I've update both Yosemite and iOS and both seem well. Safari is scary fast, btw.

No, none of the third party keyboard bugs have been fixed. Still impossible to write app reviews with any third party keyboard. Still frequently have issues with keyboard not showing up, especially in Spotlight.

Yes, they have...well, mine have. Everything is fine. All you have to do is ponru† and then allow a few moments for the keyboards' ponru† to take and everything will be fine. Only takes about 5 min. There are other alternatives but it is a negative ponru† with a BurnSPeK. It takes much longer...obviously. but yeah, so, hope all this helps!! Have a great day!!

My 4s is running so well now I don't think I need to order that 6 until Apple Pay launches in Europe.

Nope, doesn't help. The stuff I said that's broken is still broken.

Apple Releases iOS 8.1.1 With Bug Fixes, Performance Improvements for iPad 2 ...

For my 5S I've noticed severe battery drain issues since 8.0.2! Goes down a few percent in a couple of minutes! :(

Really hoping batter life improves on my 5s. Was losing 20-30% overnight. Only lost around 5-10% on iOS 7.

Make sure you're not running Google Hangouts. It's got a bug that will burn through a full charge on an idle phone 5S in 1-2 days.

My original iPad Mini seems to have resurrected from its ashes
(a few more weeks of using it as slow as it was, and it may have been true).
It feels as fast as it was with iOS 7. Very happy with this update.

You're talking about iPad Mini 1, ja? 'Cause that's the one I have, too.

Don't have Hangouts installed.

For some reason my 5s won't show what apps are using the most battery. Just the used and standby time usage.

About as snappy as the joke you just made. Seriously, this needs to die, like yesterday.

Check the release notes.
Which ones are those, out of curiosity? What's at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1758, for example, doesn't say much.

Not really. That would still imply the update was solely for the older devices.
It's a poorly crafted sentence. If the bug fixes clause is meant to be for all devices then a period should follow. Or a clearer conjunction. for example, inserting "as well as" after the comma would work. If that's what Apple meant.
Well, if everything applied to the older devices only then it wouldn't have been released for newer devices, meaning that at least something applied to them as well (likely at least the bug fixes and/or security fixes, if not more than that).

"ponru†"? "BurnSPeK"? What?

Fantastic that Apple still cares about people who bought the 4S in 2011. Android OEMs would have abandoned such users years ago.

eh, I don't give them quite that much credit - it was sold as new (albeit as the cheaper model) up until the release of the iphone 6. Still nice to see, but if they sell it as a new device in the latter half of the year, I'm not blown away that they support it a few months later.

Let's hope this fixes the... well... let's just hope it fixes it all.

I have an iPhone 6 and I been wondering for almost 2 months what on earth are people complaining about iOS 8? What is the issue? I am being dead serious! I been heavily using the phone since I bought it have yet to come across a single issue that relates to the software!!

My wife has an iPad 2 still (I know I'm horrible) and the mother-in-law has a 4s. Should I continue my injunction on updating to 8.x for both of them or has this changed anyone's experiences who are running it on their those devices?

Same issues as always: some people experience some issues while other people experience some other issues and others still don't really experience any issues (at least none that they worry about).

The only problems that has really annoyed me on my 5 is iOS's insistence on randomly switching my keyboard away from Swiftly. I'm ok with it doing this when typing a password in the app store, but It's annoying in apps where I type or in Messages. The other problem I have is occasionally the keyboard will become non-responsive, forcing me to restart the app.

Neither are showstoppers just annoying, and I haven't done anything to attempt to troubleshoot either problem because I haven't really searched that hard for any steps that effect.

That's a welcome update

iOS 8 was horribly slow on my iPad2. Freezing when switching programs, Mail locking up, reboots galore. Very, very unresponsive and slow. I really regretted moving off of iOS7... BUT, they've done enough probably to handle memory, that it is finally responsive. No rush to get an iPad Air2. 8.1.1 saved the day.

That's quite understandable, I was just quoting the other person who according to what he was saying, everything on iOS 8 is broken.

To be honest, I have had the SwiftKey issue myself, exactly same as yours, but always assumed that is do do with the performance of SwiftKey keyboard itself (randomly quitting ) and something swifkey was responsible to fix.

Anymore brave iPhone 4S users who have updated can share their thoughts?
So far two people say it got much better and one said he didn't see any difference...anyone else care to chime in? :)

I got my iPhone 4S with 7.1 and only updated to 7.1.2, never complained about speed whatsoever (I came from a sluggish Android), but even before I had an iPhone I read this section of the forums and I remember iPhone 4 users complaining about iOS7 so I've stayed back from updating my 4S to iOS8 so far.

Me. iPhone 4S from 8.1 to 8.1.1 (OTA). Indeed seems better, although I wasn't complaining in the first place. Was happy with 8.1 already.

I love my iPhone 4S combo with OSX 10.10 (Mac mini 2009), SMS relay, call relay (yes, it works with 4S), and about lag: I think a major problem in that discussion is people are too 'nervous'. Nowadays everything HAS to be instant, if it takes a millisecond there is "lag", or the "device is unusable". Sure sometimes there are bugs, but even then, if the update from Apple is taking 2 days, people are complaining after a couple of hours about Apple sucks, and they are switching to Android, blablabla. Chill, people, chill. And, as said by others, accept that your not-so-new device is still getting full support, but isn't the fastest anymore. Boohoo-freaking-doo.

The issue is not that it's not "instant". The issue is that the exact same features from previously are slow af now, with no apparent addition of new features to warrant this. People are feeling like they're being tricked into installing a killswitch that forces them to upgrade because of lacking performance.
