As soon as I scan my Wells Fargo card I'm asked to download the 'Wells Fargo Verify' app. Did they say anything about this during the keynote?

Every supporting bank gets to provide a link to their app. It was part of the agreement. You don't need to install it.

God I hope Safari works better after this update. And I don't know what they did with text selection and copy/paste but it sucks on 8.0.

one interesting note

Probably because of ApplePay and new hardware, but the iPhone 6 update required me to set the country, language and sign in to iCloud again, as though it were a new phone.

The iPhone 5s and older iPad update did not require that. They just re-started to their startup screens. No issues notice yet with any of them.

Waiting for Preparing....

I believe Dark Helmet covered this in Space Balls... Your always preparing.... JUST GO.... whoops!

Good luck using it at stores that have not signed up or opted in. Thats why stores have REFUSED it.

" Questions have remained, however, about how willing other retailers will be to sign on to the program and how quickly those that do will be able to get up and running. "
Those words you quoted were poorly chosen. The reason Walmart is not supporting it is because they didn't already have NFC hardware. They would need to buy NFC-capable POS units, which has nothing to do with Apple Pay. Seriously, why don't you go UNDERSTAND all this first.

And if you use another insult, I report you. You get a freebie.

k this needs to be put to rest. They have to SIGN UP for :apple:pay!!!! lol thats why Tim showed what stores were PARTICIPATING lol......

Completely not true, and I have the bottle of Dr. Pepper from the NFC enabled vending machine to prove it. Those stores Tim showed are stores that already accept NFC payments, or will accept NFC payments soon, and presumably, paid to have their logo displayed during an Apple keynote.

Updating now. Our Pepsi machine here at work has an NFC reader on it. Have used it in the past with a Nexus 5 and Google Wallet. As soon as my update installs I will go try the iPhone with it.

Anxiously awaiting Pepsi guy's update.

Can you pick and choose what continuity features you use?

I would like SMS relay, but not handoff or anything else. Will this require bluetooth as well?

Doing a full backup and restore in iTunes, hope this fixes the on-going Bluetooth issue with car systems.

Landscape still &€$#% on the iPhone 6+. Meaning that websites in Safari are unresponsive to touch until you go portrait and back to landscape. Gg Apple.

Was really hoping they fixed this morn than anything. Does it on my 6 all of the time and is super annoying.

I guess you don't understand how NFC payments work.

It certainly does. Your facts are incomplete and misunderstood. Put it to rest. Study up on what actually happens when you swipe or wave a credit card. Maybe then you will understand.

"For those retailers considering joining Apple Pay, however, it appears that Apple has timed its rollout perfectly. As highlighted by Pando Daily, Apple is taking advantage of regulatory changes that essentially require merchants to deploy new payment hardware in their retail stores over the coming year. This mass upgrade by over nine million merchants is the result of an updated credit card liability policy adopted by major credit card companies."

"In the wake of Apple's announcement, several major retailers such as Walmart and Best Buy were in fact quick to state that they do not plan to support Apple Pay, as noted by The Wall Street Journal"

It's pretty neat, but to be quite honest, I'm not sure if it's any faster than swiping a card.

This. NFC is not some utopia where we can lose the wallet. Most places for the next several years (e.g. restaurants) will still need physical cards. In this past, having to use the starbucks app to pay usually is slower than a quick swipe and go. I can see a lot of pissed off people waving their phone around, having issues and then not being able to pay because they have no cash or cards on them.

I thought I had read somewhere that as long as it has an NFC reader, you can use your phone weather or not they "participate" with Apple. I think it has more to do with your bank opting in. I don't think my credit union has so I'm using a CO card specifically for it.
