I assume the Beats 1 radio station is only available with the subscription plan and not free like the current iTunes radio offering?

Will the current iTunes radio continue?

I am not interested in the Connect or a $10-15 per month streaming service - I buy - but I would like the Beats 1 station, though I can't justify the $10 cost for just the radio aspect. I've never paid for Sirius XM or any similar satellite radio or a premium based Pandora or Spotify.

Beats 1 is free.

Just enabled iCloud Music library...pretty sure it deleted all of my local files not bought through iTunes. Hmm.

Agreed. Hoping for someone like me that already has match that it's smart enough to turn that off when I turn on Apple music. This is the sort of stuff Apple struggles with. For a prior example - see photo sharing/streaming/iCloud photo. All of which sort of still exist in some way.

I got an email from an Apple rep. Match and Music are the same expect for 1 difference. With match you get to keep the music it gives you. With music you get to keep the track as long as your sub is still going.

My wild guess is match is going to be part of $9.99 a month fee?

iTunes Match will remain a separate service for $24 a year. It will be there for people who don't want to subscribe to the streaming service but still want to store their own music in the cloud. They are also increasing the song limit to 100K in iOS 9. If you subscribe to Apple Music you don't need to pay for iTunes Match anymore because the functionality will be built into Apple Music.

Anyone using the family plan (multiple iOS devices that use different iCloud but same iTunes account via Family Sharing) know how to allow Apple Music to separate songs for individual accounts?

Just tested it, and it downloaded the song A that I only want on my iPhone to all other devices.

Is it like family sharing for apps where you have to disable auto download?

I always wished Spotify would let you "add music" to your library. It would have made it a much more viable replacement for iTunes but I just didn't like their UI. The fact that Apple Music is integrated into the Music App—and more importantly, I can just "add" an album to my library and it's instantly added as if I had purchased it—makes it better than Spotify already. For me at least.

People are deleting Spotify already . You've done good Apple, you've done good
It's surprising to me how quickly people are deleting Spotify. There's no way just a few minutes of testing is enough for me to know which one I'll keep using. Plus I have lots of playlists in Spotify that I don't want to lose. And so far the sound quality seems better on Spotify.

no wifi at work.... but I cheated and set up my ipad as a hotspot!

it's done downloading and now it's installing!

Beats 1 is free.

Sweet. If that's the case, no need to get the subscription or miss out.

Is the customizable Pandora like radio with various stations and stations you build of artists/groups of artists/songs still part of iTunes radio? I can't imaging that Beats 1 is simply replacing that as Beats 1 doesn't hit all the demographics that the other radio does.

Basically, now everything is in the cloud, like your iTunes library was in the cloud with iTunes match. They've simply made it so that "your library" is now every song they have available, and stuff you upload that isn't available to stream/on the iTunes store

Will we be able to download music to our devices? I'm assuming the answer is yes.

I almost get royally screwed. I deleted and re-added all my music to iTunes Match last night so that means my Playlists have to be recreated. I had synced them to my phone beforehand so I have music on my phone until I can recreate the playlists.

When I opened Apple Music it tried to sync to the cloud. Luckily it failed or I would not have playlists on my phone. I'm assuming I have to go home and update iTunes for that to happen.

I upgraded my iPhone 6 via iTunes just now. I went from 768MB of free space to 922MB after the upgrade. Never again will I get a 16GB device. When the S models debut I'm going after a 6S+ 64GB.

One thing I'm noticing is my music is louder on Spotify than Apple Music. I have to increase the volume on Apple Music to get the same level as Spotify. What does that mean?
It means that Apple Music has more dynamic range, aka sounds better. Crank up the amp and you'll be fine.
