i understand its not purely ios8 related. but has anyone tried hand off between OS X dp 5 and iOS 8 beta 5; it does not seem to be working for me

There are a lot of issues with Handoff right now and no one has a clear answer yet.

I notice when you open a folder, the folder name fades out differently now. It's way more noticable and IMO more distracting.

BLUETOOTH IS NO LONGER ENABLED AFTER AN UPDATE!

But it was on full brightness when it launched, not halfway where I left it.

Downloading now

Seems to be quite quick in the UK - downloaded in 2 minutes and now 'Preparing Update'. Seems smooth so far......

I've had that with some past updates before as well. Lately it's often enabled, but not all the time, even with official or beta updates (in iOS 7, for example).

Dumb question. If you convert to use iCloud Photo Library how can you access the photos from the Mac until the new photos app is available next year?

iphoto 9.5.1---when you post the photos in to "iCloud photo sharing" on iOS they come in the "shared>iCloud" section of iPhoto 9.5.1 on OS X

Biggest problem I've had with the previous betas (including 4) is it deciding to eat up my storage and add it to 'other' at the rate of several GB per week. If ever 'other' got out of hand on previous versions of iOS, syncing to iTunes bought it back; on this, I have to restore every week or so to get it back.

Therefore I'm interested to see if this version of the beta has eradicated that.

New iCloud Photo Library settings.

Awesome. That 'Optimize iPhone Storage' is exactly what I was hoping for. Previously, I was disappointed to hear that iCloud still stored full sized photos on your phone, as that's a real waste of space. It's great to see that setting implemented.

bastards i always wonder how they screw up something that was already working lol--no handoff wasn't FLAWLESS but it was close..now really lol oh :apple:

That's an excellent question I haven't found an answer to yet.

For that reason, and the phone.app exploding bug, I've been trying to keep my main iPhone off the beta and just use my iPad on iOS8.

I've noticed there is no overlap between the current Photostream and iCloud Photos, and Apple has been doing periodic wipes of iCloud for all the beta stuff, so I'd say don't rely on it until it launches in a couple months.

Ah, that's a shame.

It's just one of them really annoying things!

i 100% have been doing this.

Did anyone install this update over-the-air? I'm stuck with at the logo with 95% on the progress meter for about 20 minutes. :(

I shouldn't have been lazy and just install with my Mac...

Haven't used iPhoto in a while, but that makes sense, thanks for the tip!

Why is My photo stream still there? What is it's purpose now that we have icloud photo library?

Also, how do you delete photos and videos off your phone, and only have them in the cloud? Isn't that one of the main points about icloud photo? Your Camera roll is the cloud?
