Finally got in over wifi, fluctuating between 33 minutes and 20 minutes....ignoring the numbers...the progress bar is about 25% done, so that's what really matters.

At the 50% mark, the "preparing update" magical words appeared...

It's the same every year, people never learn.

The servers will get hammered, so OTA downloads will have delays, etc.

Also, it's a x.0 release, it will always be a big download, plus it needs a large amount of space to install, due to it being a major release, not a 0.x release.

Also, iTunes always takes a while before pidling up a new iOS update. It's never at the same time as OTA.

Every year some people complain that Apple have failed....

Whoa, the first wave must be over because now both my ipad and phone went from 5-8 hours to 14 minutes.

Only problem is that for the time being iTunes is showing iOS 7.1.2 as the current version...

Not true.
You could connect your phone to iTunes and update.
It needs this much space to download, extract install and delete files for the install. So if you have an 8GB or not enough space; just connect to iTunes. No problem.

I knew the update launched because my Xbox lag in COD Ghosts went crazy...

iPad just finished! I see they still default to having bluetooth automatically on after an update. annoying.
iPhone still prepping.........

My iphone 5 is finally starting the 1st reboot and write cycle, but it sure is taking a long time. I don't think the bar has move in a few minutes.

50 minutes installing this so far, I guess my coffee break is going to be a little long today!

I already was on GM but I downloaded it from a questionable source so I'm downloading it again to make a clean install.

I'm downloading it from the Dev Center, and it's downloading as fast as my connection can. About 600KB/s, 40 minutes to go.

Looks like the next fu§*#up after the Keynote live stream. The download won't even start here too. Definitely the worst update experience in years.

I don't agree. What we're seeing has happened with many previous updates - the servers are just overloaded.

Why does it require 5.8 GB of free space to install? I"m having to delete all my apps, I hope I get enough space back. This might be a fiendish plot to have us all upgrade to the 64 GB iPhone 6:)

Do it through Itune instead, you don't have to delete anything.

There are purchased items on the iPhone “iPhone von Janosch” that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPhone. Are you sure you want to continue?

5 hours for iPhone 5s 1.92GB download. Might give up and try again this evening.

So, surely with huge data farms, Apple should dedicate more server bandwidth. They expect this, what is the problem?

Stop with the space requirement complaints. Just update it through iTunes and not OTA if you don't have the space. My god.

Got my first third party widget! Audible app!

...not particularly useful though, I don't need to know at a glance how many hours I've listened to books.
