Can I get rid of those terrible icons next to all my contacts in Messages?
Yeah, they added that in the Messages settings, only for Messages (not other places like Phone). Too bad pretty much any and all other messaging clients have made this the default now too (like Hangouts, WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook Messages, etc.) so after wanting to turn it off now I'm thinking of leaving it on to be consistent across messengers.

Screw the emoji. Did they fix the damn phone shutting off unexpectedly? I'm waiting on my 6s+ to come in and not looking forward to being late for work.

Is this the final version for public beta? I just want to go back to the official version instead of keep getting the public beta. Last time when I got my iPhone 6S, I cannot restore my backup, because the 9.01 from my iPhone 6 is an older version. I have no choice but to update my iPhone 6S to public beta again which I didn't want to.
This is the final version of 9.1.

Well, this is not going well for me...

Tried to do an OTA update, which failed, and put my iPad into DFU mode.

Connect to iTunes, try to restore, and it has failed twice about 2/3rds of the way through with Unknown Error 47.

Any suggestions?
I got unknown error 3004 three times trying to update through iTunes. Screw this, deleted the update file and will go to bed and try tomorrow.

Edit: well guess what, a new version of iTunes is available. Probably why it failed.

thats been fixed...

OK, try this..

1- Go to Settings-->iCloud-->Storage-->Manage Storage-->Select your device that you are having problems backing up.
2- Wait for the spinning wheel to finish (loading icon beside backup options). THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT (for some reason!).
3- Scroll down and click "Show all apps" (it's stupid, but trust me this is the only way I could do it)
4- Scroll all the way down, and click "Delete Backup" and then confirm deleting. If you got an error message saying that "the backup can't be deleted, try again later" that means you didn't wait enough. Let it finish loading.
5- After Deleting the backup successfully, go back to the main iCloud settings page, and go to Backup. If iCloud Backup is still On, turn it off then On again. If it was off already, just turn it on.
6- Go to the same page in step 1 again, and make sure that photos are off (if you want them off), otherwise just make sure that all the options are ok as you want them.
7- Go back to the Backup page and click "Back up Now".

My backup is now working

When I tried that last week I ended up with a deleted backup and a phone that still refuses to backup to iCloud. Sadly, that isn't necessarily a fix.

Does it fix iCloud? Haven't been able to backup since ios9
Last I heard they don't have an ETA for the fix, so I doubt it. Like I said in the other thread, services (cloud, maps, radio and what not) is not Apple's strongest suit.

I believe a 3004 error means it's having problem connecting to the authentication servers. They're probably hammered right now, so it's not unexpected.

I worked around my problem by doing a restore with iTunes 11.4, which worked. I was using the OTA update hack, which allowed unsupported syncs, which may or may not have had something to do with my problem, but ironically, it saved my ass, even though that door is now closed.

Does anyone know if 9.1 definitely fixes the Black Screen issue when opening any app (including stock apps)?

Demo of it is here:

The video shows it on a 5s, but is happening on my 6s on 9.0.2.

BL.

Following up on this, 9.1 does indeed fix this problem. I haven't had it happen once on any app (stock or otherwise) on my 6s.

What the heck are you on about? My 128gb TSMC pink 6s+ has yet to unexpectedly shut off on me. Maybe you'll get lucky, jinx yourself and get what's coming to you?

Honestly who cares about Emoji and Live Pictures - never use them. Apple should be concentrating on fixing bugs with features most people use, not the other stuff.

Yes that was literally mentioned like 1 or 2 comments before you posted and people put up changelogs
( list of changes/fixes in this OS version)

The POP bug is much bigger than searching or unread mail count. The one I'm talking about shows all previously downloaded mail with attachments as unavailable. Guessing it hasn't been fixed.

Man, does this fix performance on the original Air and the 6 Plus? My friend's iPad 4 and iPhone 5 run iOS 9 better than my 6 plus and Air 1 do, which is a disgrace.

Ah well, I updated my iTunes and then tried again, worked like a charm this time. Yea the servers are getting hammered too no doubt!
