Anyone in Mexico can confirm if the News app is now available? Thanks in advance.

Sorry if the answer to this is posted in the previous 7 pages...I looked for a bit but didn't see anything.

Does anyone know what this means?
"Aside from these changes, iOS 9.1 includes new features and compatibility updates for upcoming Apple products like the fourth-generation Apple TV and the iPad Pro The new Apple TV requires iOS 9.1 to be set up using an iOS device."

Does it mean you must have a phone running 9.1 to setup the new apple tv? I must be reading it wrong. That would make no sense.

This fixes a slew of stuff and the emoji's are the least impressive thing about this. I think the authors here at macrumors are just messing with us every time they feel the need to mention emoji's. Kind of like when people say safari feels snappier. (if not, they need to hire some new columnists)

Are you sure? I would suggest you check if you can rollback IOS 6 before you tried - IOS 9 on 4s runs very slow (not surprising)
I believe there's a downgrade as long as you're jail broken. I just really want to use updated apps :( lol

Yep. Not worth new emojis. That's why I said the Pangu team should've waited.

Unfortunately, they couldn't. The exploit used for the jailbreak was fixed in the beta, so it wasn't something patched/fixed after they released the jailbreak.

It may not be impressive to you but I myself am going to take full advantage of this middle finger emoji . . . as will my friends. . . . my iPhone is vibrating non-stop right now . . .

The new Apple TV (and the old I believe) have a feature during setup where it can pull info, e.g. wifi network password, Apple ID, etc, from an iPhone rather than having to enter it in manually. So this just means the new Apple TV will require a device on 9.1 to do so, but setup can still be done with just the remote.

Released about 90 minutes ago, the iOS 9.1 adoption rate is probably already higher than Android 5.x+. Next week the adoption rate will be higher than Android 4.x+.

What's crazy is that they released iOS 9.1 without (yet) releasing Xcode 7.1 to support it. There's not even a beta, old or new, of Xcode on Apple's developer site, as of 11 AM Pacific time. The old Xcode 7.0.1 in the Mac App Store won't work with iOS 9.1 devices.

I wish we could make custom emojis. I might start using them if that happens
Literally can't happen. The point of an emoji is that it's not just a picture. It's a bit of code that every device marker in the world agrees represents a picture of say, a chicken (it can be anything). But it's agreed upon, and each company makes their own artwork for that specific thing. When that doesn't happen you end up with blank messages or messages with just a square. Or some other picture entirely. So you'll never be able to make custom emoji - that defeats the point. However, feel free to send a picture.

Does anyone know if 9.1 definitely fixes the Black Screen issue when opening any app (including stock apps)?

Demo of it is here:

The video shows it on a 5s, but is happening on my 6s on 9.0.2.

No they shouldn't. OS Updates are very different from app updates and have the tendency to brick devices completely.

Yes they should. The first phase of an iOS update is to download the entire update package. This cannot brick your device. It's the actual install that has a chance, not tendency, to cause your device issues.

By the way, my wifi is a cellular device, so I am effectively always updating via non-wifi.

This has nothing to do with the potential to brick devices. How would Wi-Fi prevent that?

This setting is just a catch-all because most updates are multiple hundreds of megabytes and Apple doesn't want it eating up people's dataplans followed by endless complaints.

Does anybody else still have UI lag on the pull down (spotlight) menu? It stutters on my iPhone 6 opening and especially closing during which the home page app icons momentarily remain blurry before re-aligning upward slightly.
