In iTunes, is anyone getting the downloading status in the Apple window? Mine is just showing the Apple icon and nothing seems to be happening.

Mine says 41 minutes on my 6+ and 11 minutes on my Air2. Hoping it goes through and not get the error message in the last minute!

Just did mine through iTunes, it got to restoring the phone then stopped and iTunes said "iPhone could not be updated, there was an unknown error" and stayed on the apple logo screen with half a progress bar!!!

Maybe they should build in some sort of bit-torrent software so they can borrow everyones bandwidth without telling them clearly?

(joke)

Joke, but I wouldn't mind to seed the installer to other phones after updating...

I also had a similar issue where it looked like the iphone crashed but waiting fixed it ;)

Finally got it to work, 3 to 4 minutes download and then a few minutes of "preparing" before it restarted. Now going through the slow black screen with Apple logo and progress bar steps

Can someone explain why my 16GB iphone says it only has 11.9GB of capacity when the ios9 update is only supposed to be about 1GB? Where are my 3GB??

Download size is not the same as install size. It's like unpacking a box. The stuff inside the box may take up more room than when it was all stuffed inside the box for shipping.

And you people who insist that screens turning off and rebooting have anything to do with this update ... should take a logic course. Correlation is not causation.

Now it's when the complaints are going to start and the "iPhone slow" searches on Google will peak - just like every release for the last 2-3 years. Apple has become lazy and wants to push releases in time to meet deadlines - compromising software and the overall user experience. It's all about $$$ now. It's sad.

Still, there will be people claiming that Apple will have everything polished by 9.1... What about getting it right on the first release? Waiting for the next release is not an excuse.
I don't understand that comment on a free software update.

Same here. I have no idea if it's actually downloading. The info panel in iTunes just says "iTunes is currently downloading an update the iPhone..." If I attempt to close iTunes, it warns me that it's currently downloading. It's been well over 45 minutes and I don't have any clue beyond that what is actually going on. Very sloppy, Apple.

iPhone 6, no issues updating through iTunes. The GM was build 13A340, after the update it's 13A344

The best thing to do while the servers are getting slammed is to use Safari (or your browser of choice) to download the IPSW file. I've been noticing that iTunes will time out the download, but leave the update button up making you think it's ready to update--it's not.

I was using my network monitor to let me know when iTunes crapped out and I'd pause and resume the download--except it doesn't cache the download like Safari does and it restarts the entire download. I made it as far as 1.56 GB (out of 2.16) and it stalled. So use the browser. There's a link to the download files a couple of pages back.

It doesn't show progress in that window anymore, it's off further right under a little icon with a download arrow. Click that and the download manager pops on screen.
