It only explains it if you had manually turned it off before - e.g. if you were a beta user - since AFAIK this toggle didn't exist before 14.5. And most people, if they care enough about not being tracked that they looked to turn it off globally, they're not very likely to turn it back on again. So I can see how even a "competent" QA might have missed this.
That toggle actually exist on iOS 14.4.2, and probably earlier versions (I could make a screenshot to demonstrate it). However, I think the ATT feature didn’t exist until 14.5 was released, but I’m not sure.

Toggle has existed since iOS 14 was released last year.

Called it..And yet still not one app asks to track nor do they show up in the ask not to track preferences to turn on or off individually 🙄 I’ve got all the apps you would think at least FB would show up here.

People still carrying on about this 🤦‍♂️ Reason you’re not seeing anything, most apps haven’t updated their apps for anti tracking, once they do then you’ll see the pop up message.

You would think they would have noticed this problem during the beta period?
I turned ATT back to On and I'm still not getting any pop-ups asking for permission.

Oh well.

Update: Just got my first one. Interestingly, the pop-up didn't appear when I launched the app, but it appeared when I went to do one specific action within the app (watch an advertisement video to get free chips in a casino app).

Reminds me of an argument I had with a member here after I said I am wary of updating after such a long period of delayed release, his argument was that I should look on the other perspective and due to the long period of tests there should be no issues with 14.5... noice.

It did exist before 14.5. Exactly so. Turn it off. Then turn it on. Specifically to check which apps are asking for permission to track.

A very common scenario that a competent QA would have as a regression test.

Still no requests. I am beginning to wonder if this feature even works.

Did Apple give developers a deadline for implementing this feature?

Still the same… and no pop-up 🤷🏽‍♂️

Eight beta, update spinning around this feature and this was unnoticed? What’s going on in the software department, free fall in the last 8 years!

But mimoji animoji sh***moji all working perfectly! Come on..

Uh, maybe mention the security fix that is included in the updates they released for iOS, iPadOS and macOS too as that's potentially more important than the bug fix...

"Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited".

In other words, potential zero-day.
Not one, but two: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/202...let-hackers-compromise-fully-patched-devices/

After updating, I finally got the ask not to track popup on several free news apps. Wonder when the Facebook app will ask.

This is how my software update screen looks with the latest update. When I tap on learn more it will crash, anyone know anything about this? :(

I feel like I was ripped off by Apple! I was really looking forward to telling all of my apps not to track me!
You need to turn it on first or it just stops all apps from tracking you unless you want bucket loads of pop ups.

I notice this update is not available for my pb iPhone. Only shows 14.6 as an update. May have to uninstall beta profile to get this.
