The update doesn't fix the greyed out switch. After the update no app is asking and the famous switch is disabled.
Apple hesitated so long (probably Zuck asked kindly) with the anti tracking release that they forgot what they initially wanted. Apple wake up, you should block the trackers!

Not sure about a deadline, but they've been warned that they have to update their apps or risk being banned.
Which is brainless. Facebook get 14.5 on their test iPhones and work out a way to track you. Should have been a deadline. App not updated by the day before then they will be banned.

Did you read the option "Allow Apps to Request to Track" in Privacy settings? This mean that if it's not enabled the companies will no longer be able to use the ID for Advertisers (IDFA) by default and you won't see any popups from apps . If it's enabled apps can ask for specific permission through a pop-up notification or in settings. That's all

I’m updating. Ever since 14.5 my phone feels slower opening folders/apps. Had no issues during beta but official release is troublesome. Shouldnt be experiencing that on a 12 Pro Max after only 5-6 months.
Nothing to worry about. It's just planned obsolescence, right ?? 🙀

*tongue placed firmly in cheek

This update has slowed down my back up iPhone 7 to a crawl. Anyone else’s performance severely impacted? Its super choppy, very noticeable and not normal.

Edit: Ok after about 15 min of leaving it alone, everything is back to normal. Very strange. I have not had a problem like this in years and I have had the iPhone since the beginning. Must have been running some kind of background task after installation.
Maybe spotlight indexing ?

Wouldn’t let me install the update, hard reset done nothing, power off and on your device and it should update.
same on my 12 pro max
except it’s stuck at

Turn on download and install updates, make sure it’s on charge once it downloads if you still can’t install it, shut down your device for 10-20 seconds, turn it back on, should be able to install it then.

that’s what’s I had to do.

Now on iPadOS, when I long press the Files app icon, then tap on "Show All Windows", there's a + button on the upper right corner of the screen to open a new Files window more easily.

That's good, but it could be even easier if there was a "Open New Window" option next to the "Show All Windows" option.

But what I really want is to be able to open several Files tabs on iPad like I already do on the Safari app using the + button.

Maybe, it’s never slowed down that much before for any reason. Force restarted it and shut it down completely and when i booted it back up it was still really laggy.
Seems to have sorted itself so if it was reindexing or some other task I guess I will never know. Wish we had activity monitor on the iPhone :)

Are you guys on 14.5 public release or the final RC? I’m on RC and I also have this issue.

I'm on 14.5 public release.

Appreciate for the suggestion but unfortunately didn't work for me.

I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but after updating, I am no longer able to sign into any iCloud services (mail, Find My, iCloud.com) on any of my devices. After a chat with support, they said my AppleID is locked due to "maintenance activity" ... no ETA on restoration of service. It's been three hours already.

Has anyone else experienced this?

They forgot the slowing down feature of old devices.

Not really they just moved it to locking the iPhone with the sleep/wake button. There is a HUGE and clear .8 second delay from when you press the button to a full LOCK. Annoying to the point I have to double check before leaving my iPHone on the table before leaving it when I am at work

My “Made For You” still will not show in the music app no matter how many times I toggle it on.

This is a first. I rebooted my iPhone 12 Pro Max twice. Still can't update. All it does is show a broken 'Checking for Update' screen forever with the Download and Install button not working. Erm. So now what?!

You didn't understand me, the switch is greyed out = not functional. I can't switch it on or off.
