Anyone know if you should slap on your Magic Keyboard for the iPadPro while you update? Or is the MK just dead to software/firmware updates? Well, here goes nothing ;)

There is no software/firmware in the MK. All of the software is in the iPad. It doesn’t matter if you have the MK attached or not.

Ah it looked for a brief moment like they had resolved the scroll wheel bug where selections on a scroll wheel quickly revert back, but alas, it is still happening.

Did the iPadOS 13.5 update render your Magic Keyboard trackpad useless with your iPad Pro? The keyboard still works just fine, but no longer can use the built in trackpad. I have restarted the iPad, disconnected and reconnected to no avail. Just curious if others were experiencing similar issues.

I was able to pair an Apple Magic Trackpad 2 via Bluetooth and that functions properly, but still no luck with the built in trackpad.

Was anything fixed? I don't need any new things.
At least my iPhone 6 is current and iOS 12 is working great.

Well, I'll never upgrade to Catalina on my MacBook Pros because Tim's OS is more important than the 32-bit apps I regularly use and now it looks like I won't go beyond 13.4.x on my iPhones. The Deep State will just have to find another way to track me going to Walmart to buy a can of Great Value sauerkraut.

...But that's just me.

Uh, no, it's not just you.

So I updated and went to turn on the underlying protocol and found that .. without an app you can't even enable it. That seems pretty dumb to me, if an app comes out in a month's time I'd like, when it's installed, for it to have a couple of weeks of data already cached to use when it does.

I just updated to 13.5 and now I can't connect to Wifi... anyone else having this issue?
Edit: I am connected to Wifi but the LTE sign shows up instead of the wifi symbol. Wtf?

Upgraded without issues (crossing fingers as I type that).

Still got the normal symbols here. Restart it again if you haven't would be my first step.

You posted the same thing in two discussions. Read the documentation...
Part of the you have been in contact is the signal strength of the person you were exposed to. Not just a you had a bluetooth connection. Its you had a connection and it was weak/far away or strong/nearby.

But this is the giant elephant in the room. It’s not at all clear or proven how well they can correlate signal strength to distance.

There are a variety of reasons why the signal produced or received between two phones in relative close proximity might be quite poor, while it might also be good across a longer direct line of sight. Anyone with Bluetooth headphones will know this.

I don’t think any app lets you know when handshakes are made either, so the government is taking information from you but not letting you access it yourself. This is a fundamental flaw in privacy as far as I’m concerned.

I live in a state and a country that are too backwards to release the app. Sadly, people wanting to travel internationally will probably be required to use the app. Welcome to the failed state.

There are going to be all kinds of apps using this API. Will they all talk nicely to each other? I assume that all of the data about encounters will be held in the device and the apps will just compare the health status of all devices with which your device has had a close encounter. I wonder if the phone needs an app to start collecting data ... or maybe the data collection begins as soon as you turn on Exposure Logging.
You can't enable it without a compatible app.

That wouldn't work anyway, as only 14 days of encountered keys are kept on the phone.

Great!

I love in Canada and unfortunately this Exposure Notification API Is useless to me. I know participation is currently exclusive to the USA via federal or state deployed apps that use this API. What if during phase II “re-openings” of business, events and say a phase III begins allowing continental local travel (Canada, USA, Mexico) is allowed, a USA citizen travelling and has chosen to broadcast they have symptoms of Covid-19 walks by me? Or vice versa?!
I’ll never know.

thanks for the update, seen this after I posted moments ago.

very strange that only 14 days of encountered keys are kept before their auto deleted. Let’s say you’ve encountered a person with positive symptoms of COVID-19 and it’s in day 14. You’ve been exposed. 12 days later, you’ve exposed someone else. There is no way for tracing to know a chain of events that led to say a very large spread should it occur.

Bluetooth is off, and only switched on when I need it. Once the virus passes this tracing api will undergo mission creep, refined, repurposed, controls relaxed, etc... there is no doubt about that.
Anyway, I hope this update fixes a few bugs I've been having.
