Will it make my iPhone 11 Pro slower and cause battery drain issues?

Ran into the widgets-destroy-folders bug twice. Cool that it’s fixed!

Please let us all know if the Activity gets fixed by this update. Thank you

Do you people running into this have a clearer description of the issue? I use the app every day. I do have issues with it, but nothing massive.

it is most probably restricted by the carrier definition file of your MNO.

mine has this:

<key>OTASoftwareUpdate</key>
<dict>
<key>MaxBytesOverCellular</key>
<integer>629145600</integer>
</dict>

so updates less than 629Mbytes can be downloaded via cellular.

(In case you’re wondering who came up with such a strange number: it’s exactly 600 MiB.)

Seriously? Apple still expect users to completely wipe phone and watch to fix their software bugs ?

What Health App issues? I did an upgrade to S6 Cell from S5 and thus far had no issues with its workout completions or recording?

Aren't devices going out Friday packaged up already?

I always wonder about that. New phones need a GM build, but they obviously can't be put in their boxes until they're updated...unless Apple has some way of ensuring that all the phones in the box can be turned on remotely and then auto-download firmware.

That would solve that problem for sure. But then you'd have to ensure the phone takes the firmware...which would explain why people occasionally get phones with those test builds.

I always assumed they were flashed then boxed, but I suppose that may not have been true for years.

I live on the edge! :p

I've already updated Adobe and NVidia... and I just downloaded the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool for 20H2

I will wipe and clean-install my secondary laptop tonight. I don't keep anything important on it anyway. It's just a travel laptop. And it's easy to download the few programs I use.

But yes... I usually wait a while before I do anything with my primary desktop. That's the most important computer.

Luckily I've never had any bad experiences with any kind of updates. Fingers crossed!
I had the Win 10 2004 update really screw up my laptop a few months ago, to the point where it would go into a boot loop. I was able to use the Media Creation Tool to install Windows (the 2004 version) while keeping my settings and files. It fixed whatever the issue was and I didn't have to reinstall all of my programs. (For Mac folks, the 2004 update refers to April 2020.)

Good luck!

Maybe have people choose? A lot of us are on unlimited data plans. But knowing Apple's relationship with user choice, I think I answered my own question.
Letting people choose just means that you're enabling the Stupid. And it's *never* their fault.

Agree with it? Meh. I couldn't care less, the last thing I'd ever do is an OTA update. But *understand* it? Sure.

I'll wait for 14.2
Sadly, that's not going to work for those of us choosing to upgrade our phones. While I have iOS 14 blocked on my current phone, I'll be stuck with it when my replacement phone arrives. I've had this X for three years, so it was time to consider an upgrade.

Mine balked too at the 300 and change MB update and I’m on AT&T.

Apple has had the GM build for some time.

I was hoping for the new emojis, but I just saw they're not expected until iOS14.2

No fix for "Map my ride / run / outdoor walk"?? Apple goes "all-in" heavily on the fitness stuff then doesn't fix a major bug that prevents mapping outdoor activities? Come on already - it's a core feature of their product line.

This:

(In case you’re wondering who came up with such a strange number: it’s exactly 600 MiB.)

strangely, TMUS with IOS14.0 has only this setting:

<key>OTASoftwareUpdate</key>
<dict>
<key>SoftwareUpdateOptInRequired</key>
<false/>
</dict>

and in earlier versions this very restricted:
<key>AllowDownloadOverCellular</key>
<false/>

but at Tmobile Germany things are very limited even now:

<key>OTASoftwareUpdate</key>
<dict>
<key>MaxBytesOverCellular</key>
<integer>62914560</integer>
</dict>

60MB?

I’m guessing opt-in means auto-update is blocked?
