Is it wrong to be very hesitant to update to this? My 2018 iPad runs great - I'm so concerned this update will botch something. If ain't broke, why fix it, right?

I'll play the waiting game before jumping on this.

That's how I feel about all Apple software updates nowadays - wait a little bit for others to be the guinea pigs.

Wow they really just shrank the icons and stuck the widgets on the left.

this is awful ux design.... come on Apple you can do much better than this

EDIT at least I found you can change it back in settings.

go to settings / display and brightness. At the bottom is home screen layout, check bigger. Everything should be as it was before.

I gotta go find that setting. Not sure what they were thinking.

Very smooth installation on my 2018 iPad Pro. Absolutely loving it.

I’ve been cruising around Las Vegas using the look around feature in Maps. It’s staggeringly good. So much better than Google Street view which I didn’t think could ever be beaten. I can’t wait for it to be rolled out worldwide.

QuickPath (swipe-typing) isn’t working on my 2016 iPad Pro 9.7. I see the setting is enabled but it won’t work; key flicks happen instead. Tried a reboot. No luck. Turned off key flicks in case there was a bug not allowing both key flicks and QuickPath. Still no QuickPath.

Trying to update my iPad Air 2 via iTunes and I keep getting this error every time I hit download update:

iPad Air 2.png

Seems to have broken both of my WiFi signal status/strength apps. They both read -1000dbm even though wifi works fine.

iPadOS 13.1 removed my reminders across devices that is not compatible to iOS 13 and mac that has yet be updated to MacOS Catalina.

Apple support say the upgraded shared reminders will not available for devices older than than iOS 13.1, is there anyway I can keep my reminders available for all my old and new devices? My old device cannot be update to iOS 13.

I am now informed that QuickPath works only on the “small floating keyboard,” not the full-size iPad keyboard. Didn’t know — and don’t understand that decision on Apple’s part, but It Is What It Is.

I downloaded the update while buying/setting up a new iPhone 11Pro on the Apple Store “service” table! Nothing like having a belt & suspenders:p No I did t plan that way. It worked on my iPad Pro 2018 like a charm.

i had that happen on my iPhone Xs going to ios 13. It eventually stopped. I thought maybe I had a virus. But so far so good. I went to 13.1 today.

The files app is a joke. Buggy as hell. Seems even worse than one of the early betas, actually.

- UI errors when copying files to/from cards and external disks (progress bar broken, showing multiple instances of files being copied)
- iPad Pro refused to copy a 10GB zip file from an external drive
- Copying large files is very slow (as in I disconnected the drive after 4 mins of waiting for a 4GB file to copy)
- attaching a 128GB micro sd card hangs the app upon attempting to view images in the folder (card is about 100GB full)

on the bright side - Apple pencil seems to be working fine and indeed seems slightly more responsive, even with 3rd party apps (like affinity photo) but I have no way of measuring it -just an impression.

iPad was already the best tablet out there and this just took the iPad to a whole another level of productivity.

This is really a game changer for the industry and the iPad.

Slide over feature request. ( i know.. already ..lol)
Love how slide over works.. very cool..
But i feel there is a little issue when making an app full screen.
When an app from slide over is made full screen.. the previous full screen app closes. .. IMO it with be better if it swapped places with the new app in the slide over rather than disappear.
Just a thought ;)

Updated tonight, on 2017 iPad Pro 10.2 was very smooth. It does seem significantly faster than before. App updates were very fast. I am still learning the new gestures.

Negatives:
Files app does not even see an external USB drive.
Apple Magic Mouse forgetaboutit. The same iPad works with a BT keyboard and the same mouse works with a Mac.

I had the phone magically rediscover an Apple ID that no longer exists, then spam me with password prompts that were impossible to satisfy. This went on for several minutes while I tried to click things quickly enough to get to settings, log out and back in with the proper Apple ID (despite the fact that I was already properly logged in).

edit: it did the same to my wife.

Definitely an embarrassing amount of bugs, but the new features show great promise for the future of the iPad. Odd that so many of these bugs are in their marque features. One would imagine that was tested thoroughly.

Now where is iWork for iPadOS? It’s insane there hasn’t been an update.

All this succession of OS's and yet some things as basic as file management or a simple app to access iCloud services so you don't have to poop your old mail all over your memory capacity seem so elusive.
