Apple Releases iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 and New iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release to Developers

I called at&t. The guy told me he couldn't do anything to help me. He said that if you have the data plan and unlimited text, there is nothing else they can turn on. SIM card switch did not work.... neither did all the other methods I came across on the internet. So all you people who say how to do it, and claim yours works.... what makes you all so special?
 
What makes me so special is persistence. As previously mentioned, it took me 4 calls to att before I got someone who knew what I was talking about. They most certainly can enable mms for your Acct just like any other non iPhone. Your iPhone Acct has a specific " opt out " setting for iPhones because up until now the phone was not capable. Keep bugging them and insisting it is possible. Have them google this thread or the many others that exist where people report they have it working. Insist on a higher level of cust service, perhaps an iPhone specialist. It can work, it IS possible. Mine has been working since beta 2.
 
MMS all working here in the UK with beta 5 using the setting below, called o2 to remove the receive block which they did without any problems.

APN: wap.o2.co.uk (contract) or payandgo.o2.co.uk (pay-as-you-go)

Username: o2wap (contract) or payandgo (pay-as-you-go)

Password: password

MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080
MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002

Is it just me or has anyone else had problems with icons being blank or getting mixed up! :confused:

I asked them by email to add on MMS and they refused. On pay monthly contract.
 
I called customer services directly, took them around 12 hours but they did it all the same, can now fully send and receive MM no problem at all.

My sim is a simplicity not sure if that makes any difference :confused:

has anyone managed to subscribe to any calendars? i can't even see any menus to do it.

i liked beta 4, and i would just like to do an update for beta 5 and not a full restore. is there any reason, why i should not do an update every time for every remaiing beta version.....restore is just such a pain....but if i need to i will.

Just do an update. If you don't install the newest version, eventually your iPhone won't work until you update again.
 
I don't know what I did but I some how managed to search my email on iphone 3.0 within mail. How do you bring that option up ?

Working AT&T ipcc file with beta 5

Can someone send me this and verify that its working before I upload it? I have MMS working on beta 4, but havent changed the ipcc file yet. Just changed my account on that AT&T side to use standard txt messaging.
 
Bluetooth Tethering now works with OSX 10.5.7 !

Yeah!

I waited for this and with 10.5.7 I finally was able to hook up the iPhone via Bluetooth with my MacBook :cool:

do i have to keep using the itunes 8.2 pre-release once i have beta5 installed and activated ?

or can i revert it back to the current release version and still sync music etc

In order to sync the iPhone running 3.0, you need iTune 8.2 beta.
 
Is anyone having this problem with the iPhone 3.5 beta?

I recently installed the iPhone 3.5 beta and have noticed a tweak. Whenever I install a new application, the app picture on the screen gets jumbled up. For instance, I have the Fandango app on my phone (which has the big red "F" as an app icon). However, the next app I downloaded and installed was the new ping pong app. On my phone, that apps' icon is the Fandango icon, but has the ping pong title. Anyone else notice this issue? Please reply.

I will have several of my icons missing when I install a new app, but not always. Restore fixes this.

Also, when listening to music on iPhone last night the first few seconds of each track was played and there was a different icon/button in top left hand corner (I think). How is the feature activated ?
 
iPhone option

Just spotted a new option when selecting a phone number type when adding a new one. When you choose either main, home, mobile the option iPhone is there now. I wonder if this is to maybe connect to iPhones in other ways in the future.
