So far;

1. seems faster especially when opening from lock screen
2. Changed so you can end multiple apps from the multitask dock without having to hold down each one. Much nicer
3. Changed background image to multitask dock area.

That plus the camera back working. So far so good

Thanks for the update. I'm about half way downloading xcode (2.18 GB....) before I start on the OS download.

Anyone have a bunch of "no internet connection" errors in beta2? Seems like i'd have to remove an app from the task bar, then it would be fine when I reopened it. This happened in multiple apps.

I'm REALLY hoping this is fixed. The gf had the same issue.

Just a side note to the people skipping betas and such:

It's a beta. There will be bugs. It's your job and responsibility as a beta user to find and report the bugs. Saying that you didn't upgrade to beta 2 because there were too many bugs completely misses the point of the beta in the first place.

If you don't want that responsibility then don't install the thing.

I know it seems unlikely the 3G is getting custom wallpapers but does it get the nice slide in dock when unlocking to the home screen?

That was foolish, they publicly state that you can't downgrade from betas.

Apparently not publicly enough for me to have noticed beforehand! :)

It's no big deal. I was just wondering if the "can't power off" thing was a documented problem or something wrong with my phone.

I'm quite enjoying the new features (the Mail restructure, the SMS character count, folders). I wish I had multi-tasking as well, but hey... I'll probably just get the new model this summer.

No. Apple doesn't pay me to find bugs for them. Its my job to make sure my apps work with the new version and to start upgrading my apps to use the new APIs.

Also agreed, but if people don't want to deal with bugs, they should have an extra phone for development purposes.

:D

If I recall correctly, version 3.0 only had 3 betas. So releasing beta 3 might mean that the OS is close to done. Maybe I'm just hoping too much.

It had at least 5, that's the last one I was on before I upgraded to the general release..

"Job" wasn't the best term to use but by downloading the beta you're essentially volunteering to do so. Kind of the purpose of a beta.

Was anyone else here getting terrible battery life on a 3GS with beta 2? Even if I did almost nothing, the battery would drain to ~50% by the time I got home at night.

It wasn't just the 3GS. Then again, when my iPad came in last week, I all but stopped using my iPhone after restoring it to 3.1.3. So I can't swear that it's better on 3.1.3, but it seems so.

My 3GS' UDID is registered with apple but I can't download the beta 3 from apple's website because I got it registered from a guy on youtube (free). Where else can I get the beta 3?
thx
