I think that Apple could make a really nice new app that gives a lot of weather information (more than just the current iPhone app). Also the same for Stocks.

Have a look at WeatherBug for weather and Bloomberg for stocks. I don't know about calculators, but a quick search of the App Store shows dozens.

These are much better than the native apps anyways. No big loss. The iPad would be better off if they let 3rd party developers do the majority of the software.

For example, I think the YouTube app would be far better right now if it was AppStore based. The more AppStore sourced apps the better, mainly because they can be updated without having to update the whole OS.

EDIT: Huh, forgot I'd already posted something. Feel free to merge.

If u read the release notes, it says that the camera tab will be there on the actual ipad and it is meant for the camera connection adapter. Not for any built-in camera..:(

Yea, I knew that from the beginning when everyone was freaking out that it might have a camera.

I'm just hoping for a split in the OS come this summer.

The way it's going now (and I hope it keeps going), the iPad OS is different from what the iPhone is using. I know, I know. It's called iPhone OS. But Safari is different. Apps were omitted as mentioned previously. The springboard wallpaper.

The OS for the iPod could be analyzed the same way, although there's fewer differences.

It just seems like separate OS' for each device would be logical.

I feel they have much more in common than in differences to justify separating them.

And maintaining multiple code-branches is a real PITA. Especially on something this complex.

One OS for the multiple devices - with the correctly configured switches/calls to determine what device you are running on - is way easier for the developers too; in the long run.

What the heck does this have to do with MBP's? Nothing.

I, for one, like to know that a new beta is released - downloading it now.

MBP? No interest at present - mine rocks.

It always amuses me when these people chime in on EVERY news story!

If you don't like it, turn it into a drinking game!
