Well, whoever's name it is in could lose their privileges.

Be more realistic. I mean Apple is no Google. They can't track you to the end of the earth .. Unless you have an iPhone, Mobile Me and 'Find my iPhone' enabled, of course.

What's with this forum not letting me go to page 3?

EDIT: OK, so I'm the first one on page 3...

So whats with this forum showing me a link for page 3 before it existed?

Why do you care?

Because the more people violate the NDA, the less Apple will be willing to share information with developers. This will both result in worse software (or at least later-arriving software), and will result in me, personally, receiving less up-front information from Apple as I am a registered developer.

I also believe that a man is as good as his word, and that when you enter into a contract you should live up to it.

agreed. on all counts.

question i would like people to discuss... what will be Apple's plan considering updates for the iPad? same as the iPod Touch, $10 for each major update? or same as the iPhone? or WiFi pay for updates, and 3G receive free updates.... i'm hoping it's the latter... lol

I agree. The last two years Apple has had a iPhone SDK update announcement in the March timeframe. This year may be different because of the iPad, but I still feel like they have more to announce on the iPhone OS front. Proof of this is the fact that these 3.2 SDKs are for the iPad only. Why would that be? It doesn't make much sense unless they branched this off to let developers work on iPad apps ASAP (since it's released in early April, instead of the traditional June/July of the iPhone) while they work to get iPhone OS 4.0 into shape, at which time the OS/SDK will merge together in 4.0. The week of April 3rd is going to be interesting, not just because of the iPad launch, but because it would be an opportune time to release a non-beta version of the SDK and OS. If 3.2 doesn't materialize for iPhone on the week of launch, I think 4.0 will be just around the bend. It would be awesome if the iPad shipped with 4.0, but that's looking less and less likely every day.

I am a registered developer with access to the SDK and the betas released prior to today. THEY ARE NOT FOR iPAD ONLY!!!!

They contain base SDK support for iPhone OS 3.0+, and have support for universal apps.

iPhone OS 3.2, however, is iPad only until further notice.

The links are based on the number of posts created in the thread.

If a post is deleted, there may be a link to page X, but in fact the highest post is on page X-1. Until a couple more replies
are made, you'll get page X-1 when you click for page X.

And thats where you are wrong, the 3.2 SDK is for iPad only.

And how would they be able to find that out?

Is they cared enough, you'd be toast. The new "big brother" laws in the USA pretty much assure that unless you are masking you IP address really well and have never ever logged into this account directly from your home machine. Even then, with enough motivation I am not sure it's possible to hide from a determined adversary that has deep pockets. On the other hand, you aren't exactly giving away the store. Of course, nobody will bother in this case since your "leaks" are not unique to you, and the information has no real value, and the SDK can be obtained with trivial effort.

Dang... I guess I'll have to pull this iPhone app I wrote in 3.2 SDK beta 4. Seriously dude... know what you're talking about before you go spouting off. The 3.2 SDK works for the iPhone and the iPad... you just can't build 3.2 binaries for the iPhone.

I personally have built an iPhone app using 3.2 SDK beta 3, submitted it to Apple, and had it approved.

Yeah uh in the real world contracts are made to be broken. Thats why they have consequences written into them so you know what to do once they have been broken.

If you are referring to liquidated damages, what's your point? And where is the liquidated damages clause in the Developer Agreement? Or maybe you have no idea what you are talking about?

Contracts exist primarily to address what happens when things do not go as planned. For example someone violates the NDA. If people always did as they promised, one would not need a contract. Nor would they need lawyers. And if your signature is true, one could extend that further to your relative usefulness.

Contracts exist to address expectations of each party and to memorialize their agreement. When things go wrong you go to court. One tries to come up with all possibilities in the contract, but by definition when "things do not go as planned," that means you are no longer in the realm of the contract itself, and you need to go to court. In some cases you can have liquidated damages, but you seem not to be talking about that.

You say: "if people always did as they promised, one would not need a contract." That statement makes no sense. When two parties exchange promises, they have a contract. That is the primary definition of a contract. A written document is merely one type of contract. Contracts need not be in writing (except for a few types).

Lots of goodie two shoes old men on here. " I CANT BELIEVE YOU JUST TOLD ME ABOUT A CHANGE YOU JUST FOUND, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF THE LEGALITIES?? YOU HAVE DOOMED US ALL!! I'M TELLING STEVE ON YOU"!!

It's a thread about 3.2 on a website call mac rumors, why join a thread about the beta release if you don't wanna talk about it, you might aswell join another about things you hope they put in - (no spoilers).
I wouldn't worry about your dev accounts either, apple is making so much money off the app store the chances of them stopping people using the sdk because some one found a bookmark tab is pretty slim.

A man is his word? Get off your high horse, you have no idea who the poster is and what they are like and making assumptions based on a post in a forum?!?

This website used to be fun, but I visit less and less due to the zero tolerance fun police.

Why can't we all just be happy that Criss is giving us a peek behind the curtain that Apple won't? Let him worry about the NDA. Apple is paranoid beyond all reason about its technology and it seems that its paranoia is spreading to you guys too. Yeah the iPhone sold well before 3.0, but after it let developers write custom apps, its worth really shined. I can't imagine that Apple would share less information with the developers if details of their SDK got out. Why would Apple shoot the golden goose? How many times have you and your buddies sat around and swapped stories about this cool feature in Stocks or Calculator vs. a new app that is out?

Bottom line, thanks Criss for keeping us in the loop.

This is prob the wrong place to ask this but when you go to a site on safari on the ipad will it automatically redirect you to the mobile version of that site like the iphone?

Safari on iPad has a different user agent than that of the iPhone. So webpages won't redirect.
