"Everything OS 4 does, Jailbreaking already did"

More seriously: same things as the iPad...Stupid consumers and fan will buy it when it's sooooooo obvious Apple has lost what they used to be loved for: their pace on innovation.

Multitasking seems like it sucks, I already have Proswitcher (Palm Pre like multitasking) if I wan't a nice multitasking with screenshot of the app and still be able to click on my dock apps, or Kirikae if I want a light multitasking and still be able to access/lunch favorite apps.

Background ? I can change the font, the animation, the size, the rows, the entire effin look of my Iphone.

iAds ? Thank you Apple for trying to clutter us more than everyone ever did on one of our most personnal device: the phone.

The only good things may be Folders & Game Centers, altough I see many restriction coming with it...
So that's it ? That's okay, especially for the iPad...but not only they are gone far behind other opponent (Android, W7...) who are keeping up the pace of new features....and which of these feature would ever bring a camera to... the iPad ?

*Yawns*...Zzzzzzzzzz......Oh I'm sorry,please do go on,it's terribly interesting.

You're awesome and we're all impressed by *YOUR* ability to jailbreak and mess with your warranty, etc. Cool.

You need to understand, however, that for most users jail-breaking their device is a Really Bad Idea™. First of all, it's a violation of Apple's IP, which is totally understandable. The phone is intended to work a certain way, and it's popular and successful precisely because it works in that way. All the time. For everyone. Secondly, jail-breaking opens up the average user (the biggest segment of the market) to unfamiliar territory that presents a learning curve, one which they would naturally rather avoid and just rush into it. This will result in support issues and usability complaints, much of which will be too disjointed and varied to address correctly during support/service calls, not to mention voided warranties and possible refusal of service.

So jail-breaking is nice, but for most users the risk would outweigh the benefits.

Yes, I know that most of the people are stupid enought to go by the rule and shut their mouth. Others like me can: Test 1000s of apps without missing any, and buy only the best and get an Iphone OS 5-like iphone.

Again there are the stupid who give their ass and money to industries (and seeing the number of them, I'll have no pity joining those compagnies) and there are those who not only only draw the best from it but also push towards better things.

Oh and I had my jailbroken iPhone broken and changed. Twice. Again, enjoy your warranty happy consumer.

*yawn*

Are you done?

Been There. Done That. Got Tired.

By the way... are you that careless as to have physically broken your iPhone twice? And you expect us to take advice from you? LOL.

Or... come to think of it... maybe it was not physically broken... maybe your precious jailbreak apps (or the "testing" ones) screwed up your OS and you were "not smart enough" to recover it (twice!)? Again, you expect us to take advice from you?

"push towards better things"... yeah, right.

Grow up a little and then come back, OK?

Cheers :D

By the way, for the record, I CAN jailbreak it easily. I know the ropes (I think even better than you), but I got tired of that a while back, so...

Yes, that's pure speculation: I didn't say the things you make say.
It was broken by random accident, and a 3G replaced by a 3GS (*Yay I'll be able to enjoy function I could already with OS 4, while you'll be paying money)

But don't you see: you've gone so far with jailbreaking that you got tired of it! And I know what you mean, but I also know what it means generaly: Apple are so slow and late on innovation compared to the pace they used to have and we expect from them, that there's nothing new to try or search for, even with the upcoming OS 4 !

There still will be one HUGE reason to jailbreak, especially with the iPad now out: tethering.

The page you linked to does not say that.

I understand. I misread the info.
I have acknowledged that here:

You're right. My bad.
Sorry about that.

Anyway, I know and generally agree with what you say about jailbreaking... It allows you to do a lot of stuff that you really couldn't do (so far) otherwise (like tethering, as mentioned in another post), but I also believe that (and maybe I'm wrong) it's not for everybody... heck, I got tired of it... but that doesn't automatically qualify a non-jailbroken iPhone owner as "stupid".

Cheers, :)

now that multitasking is out of the whinging way, my next whinge - data sharing (i think someone mentioned it. yes, went through each post like an apple*bleep*). for those devs or intelligently-smart-and-magical-people-not-on-the-developers-list-that-managed-to-get-os-4.0-beta-on-their-mobiles, any idea about it? apps sharing data like creating a document in app x, then uploading it via dropbox's website via safari etc?

Anybody able to point us to a URL with all the new features OS 4.0 will have or possibly list them here?. I keep reading about the main 7 new features Apple wants to push, but I want to see all the little things coming with 4.0. I know we all have a list of things we want, but I'm really hoping 4.0 allows us to customize SMS/MMS alert tones. Now that everyone is carrying the iPhone, it's getting real annoying when you're in a place with a ton of people and someone gets an SMS and we all go reaching for the phone! I know it's a frivolous, but it's really starting to nerve me. Multitasking is going to be a kick-ass feature, but I hoping they get a few more "basic" phone features up to spec too.

Thank you!

Right. Flash and front camera are coming. I am not sure we are allowed to post about it though. no?

Any sign of garbage collection enabled?

Not a chance. It's another one of Apple's secret weapons against Android.

On average, apps requiring enough garbage collection to actually need it will never be as responsive and will eat more battery life than an app which can manage its own memory correctly by design. On similar hardware, apps for iPhone will perform better on average than non-NDK apps on Android. Also, on average, developers who can manage their own app's memory correctly will be better on average than developers who can't.

imho

Especially not the link to the API differences. It's on thing to speculate or be vague when referring to changes, but it just seems a bit too much to post the actual differences.

Those links can only be opened with a valid apple id. And i don't see why multi-core is OK and front facing camera is too much?

Found someone who posted on this.. http://xsellize.com/threads/96794-Next-Gen-iPhone-Will-Get-A-Front-Facing-Camera-And-LED-Flash .. also something about iChat

iChat is close i can feel it :) .. skype thrilled me a lot today.... finally!

Well, That's Amazing Fanboys...except...

....I already have the best multitalking UI Multiflow on my jailbroken iPhone. It's a copy of palm's brilliant and intuitive way of multitasking. A double tap give the page and I can swipe along and then tap on the app I wanna open. But seriously Steve well done for being so leading edge. I also already have my own/video background, own ringtones that I didn't have to pay for,mi-fi,free tethering and I change carriers when I travel to another country, by popping someone else's sim and save a fortune. And whilst I'm on holiday, I can take 7meg pics,Night shots and videos all on my 2yr old 3g!!! And all after replacing the pathetic 1100mah battery with 1800mah one...

Oh and did I not mention everything is totally reversible, just in case I did have to send into Apple?I can back up everything and then do a full wipe in restore mode or even dfu myself. I really do hope that Jobs comes up with the goods this summer on the hardware front, but he's already been surpassed there. The 3rd party apps is the one thing that keeps me, but nothing in this year's UI or Apple crap add-ons make any difference...

WAKE UP FANBOYS, OR iSHEEP AS I LIKE TO CALL YOU, JOBS JUST DRIP FEEDS YOU TECH THAT SHOULD BE ON ALL IPHONES YEARS AFTER IT WAS COMMON PLACE. DO THE MATH...
FANTASTIC IPHONE HARDWAREX(OPEN SOURCE APPROACH)+(ITUNES APP STORE AND CYDIA APP STORE APPS)X(FULLY PERSONALISED & CUSTOMISED PHONE=UNBEATABLE!!!)

Don't have a go at us coz we're freethinking and don't run with herd, coz people like us are actually in the right on this.
Apple are fantastic Hardware Designers and Marketeers, but they're not the innovators or leaders in this sector right now...period...I just wish I could triple boot my portable device too...

I'm glad for you. But in reality most of us do not have the time to keep up with the Jailbreak scene. To get your phone where it is now took hours and hours of study and trial and error choosing the correct apps and mods. While Jailbreaking is cool I won't do it because the iPhone I have is my only phone and I can't risk screwing it up. I know its easy and safe but when it comes to the time and security... its not official Apple and I won't risk having downtime.

The problem with OS 4 and Apple not being innovative anymore: We still need jailbreak to adress certain functions and now that the iPad is out, there's really a need to be able to test apps before buying.

Apple adressed a lot of problems and requests and most of them are obvisouly inspired by the jailbreak scene, it means that:
1. People who are against jailbreak are stupid as f**k
2. Apple was pushed by jailbreak and upgraded thanks to the scene
3. They don't innovate anymore with iPhone OS or iPad: they will just adress features that have been requested for too long.

Yada, yada, yada. Back to my point again. "WAKE UP FANBOYS, iSHEEP" (in caps). The same reason why I left the so called "scene". A lot of script kiddies (or worse, opportunistic leechers) that, instead of educating and explaining rationally, go on and on showing off what they could do and insulting the rest. Tsk, tsk.

If you are so on to the Pre OS, why don't you buy one and help that company? I'll tell you: because you don't know what responsibility is.

"we're freethinking and don't run with herd"... I'm not even commenting on this one. LOL.

I have done all that you done and even a bit more. IMHO, it's NOT really worth it. That doesn't mean I'm against it: I help a lot of people to JB when I feel THEIR NEEDS justify it, in a RESPONSIBLE way (e.g., I don't go around shouting insults).

Wrapping up: Difference of opinion is not the same as being "iSHEEP" or "stupid as f**k". That's why I say that when you grow up, you'll understand.

Cheers, :)
