Upgrade ok, but ...

Installed iLife 11 according to the recommended procedure:
- backup iPhoto library
- install iLife 11 from DVD
- install iPhoto 9.0.1 update
- run iPhoto.

The upgrade of the library took about 10 minutes (I have approx. 16.000 pictures in 382 events), but while I am writing this post it's still analysing the library for faces (I upgraded from iPhoto '08).

No loss of pictures or events, but:
- iPhoto has already crashed once
- all the personalized events thumbnails that I had set in iPhoto 08 are lost.

How To Tell If You Were Affected?

HOW DO YOU TELL IF ANY OF YOUR PHOTOS WERE "DELETED"??

When you have over 10 THOUSAND (10,000) photos in your library, there is no way you can remember all the photos. Is there any software that will tell you whether you experienced a data loss?

Before upgrading, write down the total number of photos and events in your library (CMD + I), and compare after the upgrade.

does not work with the iPhoto from iLife '11 after the data files have been updated. ... yet Bento 3 is still advertised on the apple web site. (meaning i will not work with the iLife being shipped with the current Macs).

This is not Apple's issue, it's Filemaker's issue. (Yes, I know Apple owns Filemaker)

See "Fine Print" at the bottom of the Bento 3 description

Can't say i've experienced any issues as yet, but if i do i won't be happy, thank the lord for backups!

How about if you forgot to check before you excitedly did this?

Can't boot from time machine, and my other backup drive is probably older than I last added photos...
