Update

Is this the update that makes it not suck?

Why they screwed up such a good program is beyond me.

He means that you can't view pics fullscreen without any UI elements. This is bad. It is also bad that you can't email photos from within the app without applying a crappy theme to them.

What if you just drag the photo from iPhoto to the Mail icon?

When you talk about emailing from Mail, do you mean like you used to be able to do?

Just select the photos you want and drop them onto Mail to create a new message with the images present. Easy

Try that in the new full screen mode you can live in. ;)

I agree, using the dock (when it's there) is not exactly difficult. But if the templates were really how people want to receive photos and the interface wasn't so clunky would we really be complaining? It just seems badly realised: change for changes sake without any regard for the way people already use the application.

I'm still grumpy about iPhoto '11 and I don't find Aperture easy enough to live in either.

Still no ATV gen 1 support yet?

If so, no way I will be updating!

I have the prior generation of :apple:TV. It seems to work with iPhoto '11 just fine.
I've read somewhere that if you unlink and then link the iTunes with your :apple:TV, it should work. I did not need to do anything.
Just works.

This iphoto is so tacky and with all the silly photo frames (I thought they finished circa 1992 ) it is a pathetic piece of programming . Is it possible to revert to an older release or are there sensible photo apps for the mac out there ?

Manage My Places - Still no option to add a new place...
Yes, the Places functionality is pretty much a "basket case." Not only does it appear that there is no way to add a new named place, but the option to move a place works only in a map that's about the size of a postage stamp and the scrolling in that map is very glitchy. Then, after you move the place you can't rename it. Given these problems, you're pretty much stuck with the fixed places and locations that are found by the search function.

Glad to have my calendars back.

Not so glad about..
No real full screen mode, make the frickin UI disappear already.
Places problems. Moving, renaming places is a PITA.
Can't use esc key to back out of events after drilling down.

Hopefully 9.2 is underway and can help with some of these issues.

am i the only one who dislikes all the print stuff? I feel like iPhoto is there for them to make even more money after we already bought it.

and no mail option....have you selected a photo...and clicked share...and then click email.....wait a second...are you on a PC?!?

What a surprise...the guy who uses ellipses...incorrectly....has no idea...what he's talking about...

Killed my library

9.1 just destroyed my library, tried restoring from a backup, no joy. Really angry right now.

Consider; Snow Leopard was hardly "refined". Aperture 3 was a disaster and iLife 11 appears to be sloppy and hasty.

For the highest quality computer company out there I have to ask a serious question. Is it possible for Apple to release new software that's at least beta quality?

Considering the tiny number of hardware combinations that Apple has to write for (compared to MSFT) one of two things is seems likely. Either they can't write workable software anymore or they just don't care.

won't get to try ilife '11 for a few months yet. but am looking forward to it when i finally have time again to play around with this update. hopefully all bugs will be worked out by then and i won't loose any photos or albums.
