lion update replaces 10.4 with 10.3.1

I applied the 10.4 update prior to installing the lion update. After installing Lion i was unable to launch iTunes with an error that the database was a new version than the one installed.

As it turns out Lion installer downgraded by iTunes from 10.4 to 10.3.1

I was able to reapply the 10.4 upgrade post Lion update and all now works well.

Just installed iTunes 10.4 on SL earlier today with no problems. I'm so glad the lighter gradient is done with.

So I know iTunes is 32-bit on SL. Does that mean it's still Carbon on SL as well?

At some point - not sure if it was this update or not - under Purchased at the bottom of the screen it's a big grey area where as before the list box went to the bottom of the window, and on the right it says Download Previous Purchases.

What is this? Why is it there? How do I get rid of it?

It is the same application on both Lion and SL. As noted in my earlier post, iTunes 10.4 continues to use over 200 legacy calls ( including QuickDraw calls such as SetRect() ) ( any application my be checked by using LegacyAPISurvey, an Apple app, found at /Developer/Extras ), so it looks like this release was more of a UI change ( all of the Carbon UI ---i.e. HIView is not supported in 64-bit, so it must have been replaced with a Cocoa nib ) to allow it to run 64-bit in Lion. Obviously ( based on LegacyAPISurvey output ), many internals are still legacy.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_4 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8K2)

If a group of apps have updates, they now have to be done individually. Appears to be a bug.

Sooo. Does that make it false advertising, or is this how 64 bit apps are referred to generally, as 64 bit if it has any 64 bit elements at all?

BTW iTunes 10.4 requires 10.5 to install it. Phunnie.

Hmm, just noticed movies and other videos play in the iTunes window, as there's no longer a preference for where plays the video (iTunes, separate window, etc.).

That's too bad. :/

Does this update allow one to edit or delete apps from the "purchased" list that appeared during WWDC?

windows version you can download 32 or 64 bit. The one on my laptop is 64bit. Windows has had a 64 bit version of iTunes for quite a while.

The "64-bit version of iTunes" for Windows is the same 32-bit app. The only difference is the bundled USB driver is 64-bit in order for your iDevice to work on a 64-bit OS.

Is anyone else getting errors trying to update itunes? I keep getting this same error whether it's through software update or through the .dmg downloaded from the apple site.

Itunes is quick and stable again! Finally! They made a few other changes to the UI too, like the buttons, but this time I actually like them.

I'm experiencing a weird bug with itunes 10.4 in Windows 7. When itunes is maximized, the top part is cut off & there is a gap at the bottom. I've tried a clean install, but the same thing happens. Anyone else on windows experiencing this?

Who on earth needs to run iTunes full screen or "without distractions"?
Those of us who use our computers as a media jukebox part-time?

I have my TV tuner card's remote programmed to control my video player app and iTunes as well. I put iTunes into full screen cover art mode and can move between tracks on a playlist/iTunes DJ set, pause, scrub, control volume, etc while I sit on my bed across the room.

I know, I should just pay $99 for a separate AppleTV to do all this instead of using a little ingenuity and getting it for free, what sort of Apple user am I?

wtf?

Why iTunes is not 64 bit in snow leopard?

which is the big problem that Apple can not get Itunes to run in 64-bit Snow Leopard :confused:

Are you kidding? pfft
