Yuck! I hate what they did to the traffic lights. Why make an application even more inconsistent with the rest of the OS?

It looks horrible. I didn't even notice it until your post. It looks like something a sloppy developer would do.

Wasn't.

It's 32 bit on both Mac and Windows. There is a 64 bit version of the iTunes installer available for 64 bit versions of Windows but the app itself was still 32 bit.

ah right my bad, i didn't realise that. this was more helpful than the people that just said no, cos i knew i downloaded a 64bit version, didn't realise was just an installer, so thank you to this man.

They'll be scrambling to get the download page fixed right now before Steve notices.

Edit: They've "fixed" it: :)

Completely agree. It looks hideous.

As far as ping goes, I actually think it might be an interesting way to discover cool music. The genius mixes haven't really impressed me much, but adding in the human component has the potential to be interesting. There are several lesser know artists I like that will be fun to follow.

It's very Quicktime X like and I'm not sure I like that logo either.

I am surprised people comment about iTunes not looking like the rest of the OS every year. It never has, not from version 1.0 when it was brushed metal.

From the screenshots the volume control is straight from iPad, the traffic lights were not doubt position there to fit better with the mini player and reduce the height of the toolbar. The icons look prettier, but it may not make it easier to use as people often use colour as a clue. The buttons on the bottom are chiselled in to the toolbar, again ala iPad, which looks swish, but you don't touch them (unless you are on Windows 7) and they no longer look like clickable buttons.

Apple has used to to experiment with new UI ideas, like Coverflow.

I'd trade all the new features since iTunes 6 for getting rid of all the UI stutters, pauses, beachballs, and hangs. Unfortunately, Steve would have mentioned any performance improvements, so I expect there are none. :(

Totally agree.

And 64 bit or not , if it would only use more then 1 core i would be happy already, then i would see alot less beachballing for sure.

I thought Apple was supposed to be the company good at making design decisions. :(

Maybe it's so good, you haven't even realized it yet. :p that's how good they are. hahahaha. Honestly i don't have a problem with this icon. It is a little strange and will be hard to find for a while, but i'll get used to it.

and it's similar to the one on the iphone
