Anyone know if the new iTunes will break sync with a jailbroken iPhone? (From past experiences, etc..?) Gonna have to test this out first before dropping the new iTunes on my computer. Thank god for VMs

They have just added a little extra tab on the Itunes download page saying 'Itunes 10 coming soon' with the 9.2.1 link underneath it !

Why are the title bar widgets vertical?
The icon is horrible, I hope they change it but understand why they removed the CD.

The Aqua button perplex me. I can see them putting it into 10.7 but I cant imagine it working everywhere. Getting rid of the titlebar in Applications such as iTunes where it always says iTunes at the top is no problem but what about safari where the titlebar changes with webpages?

Go download Epic Citadel from the App Store while you are waiting. More impressive than anything Apple announced today.

What did the 'Hybrid' view look like? I was having problems with my internet durring the keynote, so I didn't really see any of it. I can't see anything on the iTunes page about it, only about Ping.

Did anyone catch the change in the top left corner buttons?

Edit: Nevermind! Two posts came up after I hit "Post reply", haha.

I hate the idea that apple wants to get into the social media business ... Also the name Ping is kinda stupid!

But what I hate the most, is that they stole the complete concept of Last.fm and Steve has the nerves to tell us that it is something completely new!!!

I would have appreciated if Apple would have worked together with Facebook and implement this Social Music feature (Ping) directly into Facebook, so I don't have to maintain another account next to all my other social community accounts...

I would've thought for a major version update of iTunes, it would be 64-bit; it's not like there are that many new features or drastic changes in it, except for Ping, which look really interesting. I'll have to wait and see if it catches on with me, but I can easily see it catching on with teens :)
I'm not sure about the new Nano, but kudos to Apple for yet again going for a radical new design to keep the line fresh and the competitors in the back foot. I liked the previous Nano as it fit in the hand nicely; I have the previous Fat Nano, which I love and have no real desire to "upgrade".
Nice upgrade to the Touch tho :)
The HDR photography is spectacular in my view; I was listening to a podcast recently talking about the photo capabilities of the iPhone, where they basically said it is the best phone-camera out there, being close to many instant cameras given the small fixed lens. The main gripe was the blown out highlights, which is common in phone cams. They pointed out some great photo apps, one of which was an HDR one. I thought if only apple would by it and integrated it as standard, though I figured they would probably implement it themselves. Which it seems they have.. making the 3rd party app obsolete.
I'm not a gamer, but the App Centre sounds like a pivotal move, and obviously designed to head Microsoft off at the pass, as they are aiming WP7 squarely at games and integrating their Live services. Everything else MS is doing with WP7 seems to be a clone of iOS, including their app store strategy, so why shouldn't Apple take them on in one area they have excelled in the Console business. Now Google has to do the same, if only they could standardise their apps for all the different Android phones, all while fending off Oracle over their stolen IP in the reverse-engineered Java knockoff Dalvik.
Not sure about whether I could use an Apple TV, but it looks like they've given themselves a much better chance of a breakthrough now, with a decent interface and pricing. No PVR, but that's ok, it is not a digital box. Maybe Apple could make a bigger brother if this one takes off, a complete digital box with PVR and Flash drive. Imagine that.

"[...]and it's available 'now' [...]" - that was last hour...

Still 9.2.1 here. I guess I can wait longer: no rush :D

Fully agree: I love my last.fm. That ping thing isn't a "new" thing. It's just a more polished last.fm kind of social network. The only difference is the big dbase subscribers they have and start with. I guess I'll stick with my last.fm network for now, as it can do way more than what that ping can do.

ONE more thing: I just hope iTunes10 will not "break" my jailbreak phone...

EDIT: so, what's the difference? iTune's PING vs ZUNE's Social?

iTunes has now the worst icon I have ever seen in any modern OS!!!

Unfortunately must agree... Also, as others have said, the traffic lights are not very appealing... Was really hoping for a total revamp in iTunes 10, looks like even more bloat pinned on to the groaning beast that is iTunes...
Ping will be a hit though for sure.
However, I've never really been one to get too into social networking, does anybody else find publishing that much info to the world a bit like being naked in public? In other words, I'd rather no one know about my secret Avril Lavigne/Lady GaGa obsession....:p

Certainly my first impression as well. It seems kind of ugly.

Well maybe not ugly, but the curves of the musical notes are slightly too playful for my taste - and the glowing blue looks a bit garish... :(

Oh well...I'll get used to it I'm sure...Unfortunately I couldn't care less about all of the social networking "innovations", so there's not much for me to get excited about here...

I disagree. I'm glad it's separate from Facebook. I dislike Facebook's attitude towards its users by continually changing the terms of service and disrespecting privacy. Plus, there won't be pictures of someone's pets and political posts mixed in the feed.

I imagine it is linked with your iTunes account so not really an issue as far as creating another account.
