Still waiting for this download!!!!
So far I'm not liking this new icon, traffic lights or volume controls. OR the grey playlists... But hey I remember I didn't like the Quicktime X icon, now it's grown on me. A little!

Ping sounds quite good... but.... I like Country Music and don't know many, if anyone that also does over here...

Still, c'mon download! ;)

I really do not understand the logic in changing the orientation of the "traffic lights ".

Very odd decision.

I would think that it's obvious. THAT is the new direction for the next major version of the OS. 10.7 will clearly switch to vertical buttons on all the windows. Don't question whether it makes sense or not (clearly it does not for a horizontal window pane), but I'm guessing like the vertical dock option, the next OS will have an option for a vertical menu pane. What? It'd be hard to read? Pshaw! Little graphic icons will replace any English words in the future of Mac so that mac users don't need to be able to read! :D

They are probably waiting for the iTunes setup files to propagate to all their mirrors worldwide so the mad rush to download doesn't break their servers ;)

Microsoft did that whenever they seeded a new build of Win7 and Vista when I was beta testing those.

This. Social networking crap has gotten out of control, now they're trying to put it in my media player. For me, Ping is a completely ridiculous and unnecessary addition to iTunes. What a disappointment...:(

Well, give it a month or two, and Apple marketing will pull some nobody out of their hat, that has sold millions of copies of his song thanks to PING.

Just think about the feature - used GarageBand to create the song, put it up on iTunes and then all of a sudden, thanks to PING, it's the new record selling one-hit-wonder. :D:D:D

Makes sense to me

That would be cool. I guess I should really try to keep an open mind. ;^_^

If so, then I gotta start learning to play some instrument or some sort of music soon, so I can actually use the GarageBand and then Ping, so I can make loads of $$$ overnight, thanks to Ping! :p:D

But first, I have to install iTunes10 I guess.....

Btw, is the Windows version of iTunes 10 available to download already?

You may have been kidding, but this is a real possibility. Everyone moaning about social integration in iTunes, needs to understand that social networking is merely a tool for marketing. Someone mentioned the social aspects of last.fm, well guess what? That exists to sell music. iTunes IS the biggest online reseller of music, and it would be stupid not to integrate something like this into their service. More people checking out new music means more people buying songs, which means more music companies making money.

It's very Quicktime X like and I'm not sure I like that logo either.

I am surprised people comment about iTunes not looking like the rest of the OS every year. It never has, not from version 1.0 when it was brushed metal.

From the screenshots the volume control is straight from iPad, the traffic lights were not doubt position there to fit better with the mini player and reduce the height of the toolbar. The icons look prettier, but it may not make it easier to use as people often use colour as a clue. The buttons on the bottom are chiselled in to the toolbar, again ala iPad, which looks swish, but you don't touch them (unless you are on Windows 7) and they no longer look like clickable buttons.

Apple has used to to experiment with new UI ideas, like Coverflow.

These experiments are usually a good way of telling upcoming UI changed for the next version of OS X (or sometimes even the version after the last).

iTunes 10 has the UGLIEST icon I've seen in a long time!!!

It's really annoying of Apple that they keep adding features to iTunes, but never really doing anything about the sluggishness.
